"Everyone wanted me for that role except the director... But it wasn't for me. I tried really hard. But I can't even be mad. That role was for Jennifer Hudson. I feel like I was meant to win 'American Idol.' And I feel like J was meant to play the Effie role."
-- Fantasia Barrino on losing the 'Dreamgirls' role to Academy Award nominee Jennifer Hudson (Vibe Vixen).

Thumbs up to both fantasia and jennifer. I would hope that in the future if someone decides to write a movie about the lives of gladys knight, pattie labelle or aretha franklin; that they would consider fantasia for the starring roles, as for some reason I saw fantasia going in the direction of one of these phoenomenal divas/african queens, but somehow and for some reason fantasia has flipped the script on her singing style...I think she should have stayed in the direction she was going with her first album,,hip hop is definitely not for such a beautiful captivating voice...Keep in mind whitney is comming back for a spell, but I have confidence that ms. hudson and ms. barrino were born to be the next new divas. I can vision a competition for the role of gladys and pattie between jennifer and fantasia. My advice to both upcoming divas is to leave the hip hop to beyonce!!

I invision Fantasia as a future legend of R&B just like Gladys, Patti, and Areatha. So quite naturally, I was surprised with the direction her new album has taken. Hopefully, someone will lead this gifted singer back to her true calling.

Unfortunately or fortunately you can't get the part if you can't read the script. I truly hope that Fantasia is addressing this personal issue. She is a beautiful person and has been gifted with a beautiful voice but I too am totally baffled by the direction she has taken her career with this new albumn and recent video.

I was very shocked when I saw Fantasia's video. I was very disappointed that she is playng up her gangster background instead of what helped her win the American Idol contest. I also saw her on the UNCF celebration to Areatha Franklin and her outfit looked like she was going to go on the corner and turn tricks. I hope somebody pulls her coat tail . She does not have to look like a street walker to sell records.

every body need to stop hating on Jennifer because she did her thing and she also should have won the American Idol too the producer's of Dreamgirls knew what they wanted and just who they were looking for and obviously it was not Beyonce or Fantasia they need to stick with something else and stop making excuses about why they did not get the role of Effie.

Fantasia, you can sing, but can't read a script...go and get an education in reading, and maybe they will take you up on making a great movie, and i also believe Jennifer Hudson was a better choice. She also should have WON Americal Idol...
