"Everyone wanted me for that role except the director... But it wasn't for me. I tried really hard. But I can't even be mad. That role was for Jennifer Hudson. I feel like I was meant to win 'American Idol.' And I feel like J was meant to play the Effie role."
-- Fantasia Barrino on losing the 'Dreamgirls' role to Academy Award nominee Jennifer Hudson (Vibe Vixen).

Do you all read or what? Fantasia said she was NOT A STRONG READER not that she couldn't read. You have to be able to read to do a screen test/audition for a movie. Duh!!! If she couldn't read she would not would not have been able to read the script, teleprompters and others things to prepare herself for the television things she has been doing. Lighten up you guys. Let's not tear each other down. Other people do enough of that for us. Let's just say she is talented and lovely and leave it. My goodness!!!
Someone mentioned that she should stop making excuses for not getting the role of Effie. Her explanation was based on facts not excuses. She said she did not get it because it was not for her the director wanted someone else. Where is the excuse there? Again, stop hating on her and being so judgmental. for some of us who harbor anger and jealousy I guess it would be hard for us to believe that her explanation/excuse would be that simple. She is humble and appreciative for all that God has blessed her with. Lighten up.
Finally as black people SOME of us never, ever want to see our own excel. Why not be happy for both of them. Fantasia is a great singer/performer and Jennifer as well. Their styles and sound are different but nevertheless they are good. Let's lift them both up and give both their props. Don't be so judgmental. Fantasia is working to improve herself, surely that means something. Don't fault her for that. There are more in entertainment who really can not read or write they have just not come forward. Take it easy, the Lord says, there is none perfect. No, not one.

Jennifer Hudson was kicked off of american idol to early she should have been the one to go up against fantasia. She is an excellent singer and I feel she could have won it. Fantasia needs to go back to her last album and stick with that style of music.

Did I read somewhere that Fantasia was illiterate? Im not hating on noone, but how could she be considered for a role if she can't read the script.

There is not room for any of us to put someone down because of education. Promotion does not comes from the east or west, it comes from God Almighty. God can/will put us in places that (men) would say that education can't get us in. We need to always remember that God is our promoter. One thing we should not loose focus on is, "it doesn't matter where you came from, what matters is where you are going."

Both singers are in their own rights destined to keep rising to the Top. I agree with a previous comment that Fantasia's voice is great but she does need to pick up on her dressing a bit. No need to down play your great little shape for a lower class of clothing. Bring everything UP for the sake of climbing to the TOP.

Jennifer was definitely the right choice for the part in Dreamgirls. She knows how to present herself in the public eye, act, and knows how to dress. Fantasia needs some work in these areas. Someone need to take Fantasia under their wings and show her how to display herself in the public & hollywood arena. It's more than being a singing Idol. And those tatoos on her back must be covered up. Do your thing Jennifer.

They are both good, in different styles of singing. However, maybe they should not put them on the same program, like they did for Aretha's show. It is enough that the competition is there, but that is even harder. But they are young and have a good life a head fo them in entertaining. Perhaps they need to get some guidance from experienced performers..............Aretha, Gladys, Patti, before they burn themselves out.

My hat is off to both of these young ladies. The truly hare using their "God" given talent! God had a place and time for both of them - The part of Effie was Jenifer's and she played it magnificently! She is a star and I look forward to great things from Jennifer.
Fantashia kudo's to your mission - showing young ladies that no matter what happens, you can make it. I loved your TV Movie and actually love both of your albums! You have a diversed talent and can sing anything. But you tore up the gospel award show! Love and Blessings to both of these young ladies! Keep you head up and God 1st in your lives.

Fantasia might not be able to read a script but, she is a STAR. From a negative there is a positive, script or no script she made it. Jennifer lovely person, do your thing.

Well, We must remember that God is always in the plan. He knows all before we even move forwards for any position in life. I feel that jennifer knew that god had a plan for her life and she waited for him to grant her request.Nothing happens my accident. Trust that special man name Jesus, he's all right. I have tried him and he's all right. Go Jennifer.
