Tyra Banks may have dressed up like an obese woman --as an experiment for her daily talk show-- but the former 'Sports Illustrated' cover girl has taken umbrage to the notion that she is really "fat."
On the Feb. 1 edition of her eponymous, Emmy Award winning chatfest, Banks will confront the tabloids and gossip websites that ran unflattering photos of her in a bathing suit over the holidays with headlines blaring, "America's Next Top Waddle," "Tyra Porkchops," "Former Model Tyra Banks Reminds the World Why She is Now Retired from the Runway," and "Dude, Did Tyra Gain Like 50 Pounds Below the Neck?"
Always willing to go all out for her television viewers, the fashion icon --admitting to putting on some weight over the holidays -- stands in front of the televised studio audience in the exact same bathing suit next to a life-size cut-out of the tabloid photo to demonstrate how a simple shift in body position or a change in a camera angle can "add weight" in a photo creating the "money shot." She admits that in the photo "... the booty is a little thick," but shares with her audience how the tabloids are ridiculously obsessed with weight.
"Luckily, I'm strong enough and I have a good enough support system. . . My mama has helped me to be a strong woman so I can overcome these kinds of attacks, but if I had a lower self-esteem, I'd probably be starving myself right now. That's exactly what is happening to women all over this country," the former Victoria's Secret spokesperson said.
Banks adds, "I'm happy to be 20 or 30 pounds heavier than the average model and I felt like that was a positive image especially with what's going on now in society with models and women hating themselves and hating their bodies."
"So I have something to say to all of you who have something nasty to say to me or to other women that are built like me, women who sometimes or all the time look like this, women whose names you know, women whose you don't, women who've been picked on, women whose husbands put them down, women at work or girls at school, I have one thing to say to you: KISS MY FAT ASS!"
Alrightee then.
It is quite just that, too.

No need for Tyra to get angry she has said the exact same thing to girls on Top Model. Now she knows how it feels Tyra. I think Tyra looks good but she can dish out the unflattering remarks but she can't take it. She has made a lot of girls feel bad saying a lot of things about them that hurt their feelings and now she got the unmitigated gall to complain and pretend to shed tears.

Tyra is still a pretty girl, no matter what size she is, although, I think that she looked better at the weight she was when she was a model. The weight that she has now needs to be toned up and in proportion. But it is obvious that she is not happy with her weight gain, or she wouldn't be crying and getting angry about it. If she was O.K. with her new size, she wouldn't care what anybody says, she would just simply hold her head up and strut her stuff. Actually, the message that she is sending out by crying and getting angry, is that it is hurtful and not a good thing to be that size. Think about it!

I love Tyra and what she represents, however, I agree that her weight gain is an issue for her. Everybody knows what the Tabloids represent and so does she but they struck a nerve with this one. She says she is okay with the weight gain but her actions show otherwise. That is probably the modeling mentality still showing up in her. Tyra.......sweetheart........get it together. You still look fabulous with the weight. You are a role model. You can't afford to let them push your buttons like that. You are totally over-reacting. You must be more professional.

As much as I like Tyra, I hate to say it but she did the same thing to Tacara and Mary on America's Next Top Model.
Both of them were beautiful full figured women but they didn't win cause they were to big. Well actually, Mary didn't make it on the show - two times. But now that the tables are turned, she's screaming bloody murder.
Now for the really interesting twist, on the up coming season of ANTM, they are going to have two plus size models. Hum....I'm beging to wonder if the pictures are a set up to get better ratings for the show. I mean, no body was really talking about Tyra or the show right now, but we are now. Poor Tyra...or is she smart like a fox? Hum...

It's true Tyra is an intelligent AND honest woman.
She doesn't need the Media to tell her who she is.
Why should such beautiful woman starve herself for?
Tyra has still got the 'KILLER' Black woman's curves.
She will still look even more beautiful with a pregnant belly.
To HELL with those who has nothing better to see or say about her.

Good for you, Tyra! I'm glad someone finally had the stones to challenge the tabloids on national tv like this! This was a very valuable thing to expose to all those who believe everything they read in the media to be true. I only wish more celebrities could refute these false accusations as effectively as she was able to do, while at the same time giving other females an example of self esteem that is sorely needed for many. It would be great if tabloids & paporazzi would finally learn to use responsible journalism, but it won't happen, because this society loves to spread negative publicity on celebrities, if only to make themselves feel better about themselves.
