"Not to toot my own horn but a lot of girl singers black and white are starting to sound like me. Honestly, I did hear myself in that Beyoncé song, but I didn't get mad. I figured influencing others is a part of my purpose as an artist."
-- Grammy Award nominated hip-hop soul artist Kelis on her influence on Beyonce. (Uptown)

Stop hating on Beyonce. First of all she only made the statement about Jennifer Hudson in reference to her own singing career, meaning the movie takes her out of the spotlight. PLEASE STOP HATING, WE SISTERS HAVE BETTER THINGS TO DO, LIKE APPRECIATING ONESELF NO MATTER HOW GREAT OR SMALL, APPRECIATE.

I think that Beyonce and Kelis is in two categories, but we are not sitting at the entertainment table to see what Kelis is seeing in thru her entertainment eyes she got the inside track on who is trying to sound like her or what not, we are on the outside looking in, so if she feels that Beyonce and others are biting her style, she is inspired by that she never said she was hating on it. Learn how to read someone's message before bashing alright. Cuz frankly I like both of them!

Hey,
Kelis is 100% right. She may not have the pipes like Beyonce, but if you listen to that song on B-Day called Green Light, and listen to the song Truth or Dare with N.E.R.D feature Kelis it's more than hella obvious the coping. On the "Yeah's Yeah's". Take a listen for yourself and you will see. I love the talent of both artists, but one gets praises for lack of orginallity and it's sick.

I feel that Kelis is a unique artist (her style is somewhat underground), It can be difficult for Americans to appreciate her uniqueness. On the other hand, Beyonce is everything that an American girl or an African American girl try's to be at this day and age.I'm sure that open-minded people, and even true musician have been inspired by her music. Music is universal, and just because I am not inspired by something doesn't mean that it isn't an inspiration to any one else. This is true.
