Throughout the years, Mariah Carey has endured her fair share of harsh criticism for her fashion attire -- or lack thereof.
But today, the high yellow songbird has been validated.
Well, sort of.
The best-selling pop diva was announced as the new face of Pinko's London inspired fashion brand.
According to a rep for Carey, the leading Italian fashion house's campaign was shot by renowned photographer Michelangelo Di Battista and art directed by Giovanni Bianco. The striking images depict Carey in strong sultry poses wearing Pinko's signature sassy, urban designs.
Carey, who now joins an elite list of fashion's biggest names -- such as Naomi Campbell and Elle Macpherson -- who hawked the line, said she was "flattered' with the new opportunity.
"I first discovered this spectacular fashion house while working in Italy, in my favorite place in the world, the Isle of Capri, while recording my latest CD 'The Emancipation of Mimi," she said. "I immediately became a huge fan of the brand, and I bought almost everything in the store. So as you can imagine, when I was approached about doing the Pinko campaign I was beyond excited. The clothes are so stylish and fun, and I'm really looking forward to our new venture together."
Pinko's founder and president Pietro Negra added, "All our campaigns feature famously beautiful women, but this time we wanted not only a beautiful woman, but a musical artist, because music is the greatest channel of communication, it reaches across the generations, perfectly reflecting the Pinko brand's goal: to design clothes for women of all ages."
The latest campaign for Pinko launches in London, and can be seen throughout Pinko's 750 stores worldwide, including a flagship store in London and in Harrods, Selfridges and Harvey Nichols.
Carey is currently shooting the movie 'Tennessee' with acclaimed filmmaker Lee Daniels, the man behind 'Monster's Ball,' 'The Woodsman' and 'Shadowboxer.'

Mariah is curvy not fat or a big girl. I thought her fashion has alwas been on point. Of course she has had some bad days but what celebrity hasn't. And for the record she is African American and Venezuelan.

First of all she is black, according to the United States constitution if you have 1% of black blood you are black. I don't think she has denied that fact, maybe she hasn't embraced it as some people think she should have but she does admit that she is. Look at the girl from Flash Dance, she doesn't embrace her blackness. Think of it this way what race of people you know from a rainbow besides us. We are like Baskin and Robins we come in over 35 different flavors that is the true beauty of being black. No other race can claim that.

Pietro Negra needs to cut the drama. They just wanted to sell some clothing, give mariah some free shyte to get some exposure for this line. Stop all the drama about beautiful women and musical talent-it's all about $$$

She was ok to me she tried. She has the money so she can dress the way she wants when she wants to. No matter what a person wears someone is going to hate anyway.

Everyone need to quit hating! In my opinion skinny looks nasty, thickness is in. Mariah is a beautiful woman with a beautiful voice. She knows she black, just because she dye her hair don't mean nothin. I see plenty of black people dying thier hair, they all trying to be white? If you think that your world must be pretty confined and miserable too! Keep it up Mariah, I only wish I had your cash!

why do people speak on subjects they have no idea of what they are talking on? mariah is venezulan, african american, and irish.she doesn't consider herself as one race because she said they would be denying the rest of her.she is a human being like the rest of us.why can't you just give the woman her props instead of calling her a big girl which she is not;she is a woman with curves.she is making millions and is involved in alot od charities.why are so many people focused on some of the smallest things when they can concentrate on all the right things that she is doing
