Warner Music Chief Kevin Liles has been known to be passionate about his projects.
But he was brought to tears recently when he came face to face with R&B pioneer Eddie LeVert.
The two men share a common bond, not only because they are considered powerful in the music business (Liles in the boardroom, Levert on the stage), but through their close relationship with late R&B crooner Gerlad LeVert.
Liles, a close friend of the veteran singer who died at the age of 40 late last year, is the Executive Vice President of the Warner Music Group, which released the posthumous album, 'In My Songs' on Feb. 13. As it is well known, Eddie is Gerald's father and frequently collaborated with him on music projects and concert tours.
They both were brought together by Black Voices programming chief Ken Gibbs, Jr. for an intimate chat about the life, relationship and musicianship of the man many knew as the beloved "teddy bear."
See this exclusive special celebrating the dynamic artistry and life of Gerald Levert here.
A wide range of topics are discussed during this very revealing 1-on-1, most notably the record company drama, his recent sojourn to South Africa, Liles' drastic weight loss and what it meant to Gerald.
The album, written and produced entirely by Gerald and longtime musical associate Edwin 'Tony' Nicholas, is a soulful collection of love and R&B music that confirms his legacy as the songwriter/producer who helped change the musical sound of his generation.
