'Sister 2 Sister' magazine publisher Jamie Foster Brown is confirmed to star in a special one-nigh-only presentation of 'The Vagina Monologues' at Washington, DC's historic Lincoln Theatre on Feb. 24.
The entertainment industry veteran and sought after black celebrity gossip guru is lending her support for the benefit event, with proceeds going towards The Rebecca Project, a safehouse for women victims of domestic violence and substance abuse.
For the Erma Elzy-Jones-helmed production, the sassy and brassy Chicago native will be joined by actresses Vanessa Bell Calloway, Phyllis Yvonne Stickney, best-selling authoress Zane, media personalities Rolanda Watts, Jeannie Jones, vocalist Tanya Blount and reality TV vixen Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth.
"I am pleased to be a part of such a monumental work and to have the opportunity to work with some of the women I've interviewed over the years and consider friends," stated Foster Brown. "It is really exciting to be performing right here in my home town as well," she adds.
Based on interviews with over 200 women about their sexuality, 'Monologues' -- written and created by celebrated playwright Eve Ensler -- originated Off-Broadway in New York City. Since then, the Obie Award winning play has morphed into a best-selling book and a HBO special.
To date, it has been shown in over 20 countries, and dozens of major stars have performed the monologues.
"Participating in this production is a true extension of the work I've done throughout my career both inside and outside of the entertainment industry," Foster Brown added. "I really look forward to a full house supporting both the essence of this monumental work and the organization, The Rebecca Project, which will benefit from this performance."
