It's been a hot minute since 50 Cent was at the top of the charts.
And apparently he's been spending his down time dealing with some family affairs.
According to the New York Daily News, 50 Cent has paid big money to support his son, Marquise, but has never had an official arrangement with the boy's mother, Shaniqua Tompkins.
Up until now.
The hip-hop superstar legally known as Curtis Jackson was in court this week -- but he wasn't appearing as a defendant.
The rapper -- allegedly shot nine times before his fame and fortune-- filed papers in family court to get a court order and make things official about what his responsibilities are.
What's the cause for all of this newness?
"It was just getting so out of hand," an unidentified "friend" of the rapper told the paper. "It was driven by greed. He felt it was necessary to get a court order making clear just what his responsibility is. He took matters into his own hands. It's usually the woman who files. But he wants to do the right thing. "
Hmmmm.
50, reportedly, always helped out his baby's mother, moving her into an upscale Long Island home and taking his son out on the road with him, and introducing him to Justin Timberlake and Timbaland, but according to the friend, "his son's mother is now making unreasonable demands, which seem to have no limits."
An attorney for Tompkins says she is going for palimony, while publicist Cindi Berger (who also reps Rosie O'Donnell, Barbara Walters, and Dixie Chicks) was quoted as saying, "Curtis puts his son's needs first. His son is well loved and taken care of. Anything else is a private family and legal matter."
Well if she said it, it must be true.
She's the same flack that had a hand in Mariah Carey's meltdown.
I can't wait to see how this shakes out.

It's a shame that women do things like this. Mother's such as myself who work hard and just want the father of their child/children to contribute to the rearing of said child/children. Unfortunately, there are fathers that choose to walk away and "forget" their responsibilities. In these cases a child support order is necessary. In this case, she is just "robbin" her child's father. If she is getting "support", and the child is with his father 90% of the time who is he supporting? The child's mother or the child? He is providing emotional support, and financial support. He is involved with the day to day raising of his child, so what does he owe? She don't need that BMW to take her child to school. She don't need him to pay her mortgage. It's confusing a hard working mother has to fight for any type of support for her children, while chicks like her feel because she laid on her back damn near 10yrs ago should financially benefit. If I recall that is considered prostitution. I can go on and on however, I digress.

Are you guys serious, This is the same man who stole a dead mans identity and tried to relive this mans life by calling himself 50. He was paying the family for royalties for using the mans name and then stop payment half way threw his rising career. I still think he had something to do with Jays death. Their is no way in hell Jay was shot in the head in he only got shot in the leg. I don't know of any hit people that would leave a whiteness. Plus he wanted out of a contract with Jay so he can go with Dray? It doesn't take a CSI pro to see this crap don't jive.... If he stiffed those people on royalties why wouldn't his dis respectful, womanizer. If you never seen this man in action. Please... And for the woman who think its cool to be a B%#ch and a Ho. Grow up please, Your more than that.Choose your music and songstress wisely after all your kids are taken it all in. Don't have JR thinking all females are tricks and Ho's or you have to be hard core, swinging a pistol and ghetto fab like this mans records portray. Lets start a movement on how not to keep our blacks ignorant. Give them music that has food for thought. Or something educational. With all the absent parents and kids raising them selves. Why not have something incuraging or positive to say. Hell the life he talks about, he didn't live. Welcome to 2007 time 4 something new. We did all the big butt ho's and rims and big bling and guns and pimps and gangsta stuff already!!! Im board!!! We need real s#%t... "Its Been Time 4 change"!!!!

It's amazing how people stay on the outside and make moral judgments about people they don't know. For those of you who have nothing better to do than pass nasty remarks about Shaniqua, mind your own business. She is a wonderful mother. Please let these two young people raise their child their own way. They've done a marvelous job so far without interference from you. As a side comment to 50 Cent, young man recognize the signs of people who don't mean you any good. They will always try their best to step in between, especially when they see how far you have come. Continue to do a good job with your son. I'm praying for you and Shaniqua both.
