Despite some resistence from mainstream power wielders, there is just no stopping that Whoopi Goldberg.
President Bush and his right wing cronies attempted to put a kibosh on her mainstream career, after false reports came out about her use of the "bush" word at a Radio City Music Hall fundraiser.
And then she wasn't even invited to the star-studded opening night of 'The Color Purple' on Broadway -- a legendary brand that she is mosttly associated with.
And to not even be invited to Oprah Winfrey's much ballyhooed "Legends Luncheon" would've fazed a woman of lesser resilience.
Yet, she's still very much in demand.
So much so that the Academy Award winning funnywoman recentlty moonlighted from hosting her daily syndicated morning radio show to do another stand-up special.
Titled 'The World According to Whoopi,' the one hour special premieres on the Bravo network April 5 at 10:00 PM ET/PT.
Taped at New York City's Baruch College last December, Goldberg goes for the gusto touching on topical issues while keeping the audience in stitches. The 'Jumping Jack Flash' and 'Ghost' star shares her views on everything from racism to kids' manners today, She also reminisces about the good ole' days of free love and wild parties, only to contrast it with how things have changed, now that she often finds herself "the oldest person in the room" with gray hairs in unexpected places.
"I have three or four things that I know I want to talk about, and then I get out there and I do it," Goldberg said of her approach to comic material, during a conference call this afternoon. "That's how it goes. If something really gets to me, or something really sort of strikes in my head, I think oh, I really want to talk about this. I want it gathered, and turn it into a show."
The former welfare recipient remains to be in a class by herself. She is the only African American woman to be honored with all five major awards: The Oscar, The Tony, The Grammy, The Emmy and The Golden Globe.

When people speak their mind, why do others feel threatened if that is the case? Personally I like Whoopie and her act.

It's not hard to believe that Whoopi would not be invited, but she is a strong, confident black woman who has gone a long way no matter who doubted her, she is a beautiful woman and actress and god will continue to bless her.

Whoopi Goldberg, is one of a kind, and isn't afraid, to have and share an opinion, which for those of us who love her, is absolutely great. And the one thing I've learned in life, is if you are strong in your convictions the less courageous, will shun you.

Oprah is too fucken much!!! No one wants to talk about it but she has hated whoopi for years, since the color purple. she even said that she wanted her name in the billing in the movie. why? she wasnt the star was she?
even though shes the richest black woman who ever lived, it is quite evident that she's still unhappy in the core of her soul. we watched her lose and gain hundreds of pounds, dye her hair all sorts of colors and burn it up with perms and hot curlers. she even used to bleach her skin and wear contact lenses. she has always compromised the true essence of her looks because she doesnt feel shes beautiful.
Whoopi on the other hand has always wore hear hair natural and never got too out of line with her cosmetic appearance. she wears big shirts and baggy pants all the time and dresses like a man. people still love her ass.
do the math people.
its pretty evident why oprah didnt invite her to the luncheon (that brandy, ashanti and south-america's next top model naima attended) and to the color purple broadway opening.

Too much energy and emphasis on this non-news fodder...Whoopi also had her share of WHITE men...(traitor) lookin' afrocentric and sleeping eurotrashy....so what, she wasn't invited...she doin' alright...I ain't hatin' for real...just speaking facts. Let's concentrate on getting our community back together again...it's obvious they (Whoopi and Miss O) are too busy right now...we GOT WORK TO DO...crime, aids, health, homelessness, oh and remember, THE WAR...let's stay focused! By the way who writes these blogs? What in the h-e, double hockey sticks is "kibosh"? Don't sound like BLACK VOICES to me! Of course she is Whoopi Goldberg...okay, I guess I get it...geez.
