Did Usher really put his mom out to pasture?
If you have the tabloids tell it, yes: Jonetta Patton is being "eased out."
"Damn, Damn, Damn!!!" as Florida Evans expressed on a memorable episode of 'Good Times.'
What a way to spend Mother's Day.
Speaking of mothers: Tameka Foster, the 38-year-old divorced mother of three who is now engaged to the 28-year-old multi-platinum-selling, multiple Grammy Award winning R&B superstar, is believed to be the new Capo of the House of Usher.
"Tameka has a hold over him," one alleged "friend" told the 'New York Daily News' this week. "Nobody can figure it out. Some people think he may make Tameka his manager."
Whoa.
Technorati Profile
Another infamous black momager once told me years ago that "nothing is stronger than pillow talk."
Patton, who celebrated her 50th birthday at a lavish soiree last month, has been reportedly romantically linked to Eric Carr, a 36-year-old well-to-do former professional pugilist turned tycoon. According to Wikipedia, the Houston native is a 1993 Golden Globes champ, who has one child from a previous relationship.
He and Patton are reportedly engaged.
Holy Cougar!!!
No one has really confirmed if a fall-out occurred between mom and son, but Usher's longtime publicist Simone Smalls confirmed that she, herself, is no longer working for him -- after a near decade-long association. However, the esteemed Vice President of New York's Susan Blond publicity firm remains in close company with Patton and said that she will not be releasing a statement about her son.
Now I'm not going to say that Usher, legally known as Usher Raymond, is throwing "mama from the train," but all arrows are pointing in that direction.
His former record company publicist Chris Chambers, who also works OutKast, Jill Scott and Mya, said he thinks Usher may have hired power publicist Patti Webster, whose client roster includes Janet Jackson, Jermaine Dupri, Patti LaBelle, Ludacris and Kimberley Locke, among others.
Webster has not confirmed or denied her involvement in Usher's revamped management efforts at presstime.
This ousted momager business couldn't have come at a worst time, though.
Patton, once described as "rotund" and "jovial" in a legendary 'Vibe' magazine cover story penned by 'New York Times' reporter Lola Ogunnaike, is the subject of an E! Television special, 'Raising Celebrity: Tales of Hollywood Moms,' premiering May 13 --that's Mother's Day!!!
Known as one of the most successful (and stable) stage moms in the business, Patton talks tough throughout the hour-long special, which also features an exclusive interview with Lindsay Lohan's tabloid-ready mother Dina Lohan.
"You wear two hats, but you never take off the mother's hat," Patton is quoted as saying.
"If you're hanging with your kid in the club and you're doing the same thing that your, your kid's doing, then how could you demand the respect, so, I think it's important that the parent always set the example," she commented.
She doled out other advice too.
"As a parent in the business that manages the child, I will say be the leader, not the follower."
With advice like that, I'm starting to wonder if maybe she should've gotten a book deal, like Kanye West's mother.
"You have to always have the kid's best interest at heart from the beginning, and, then, second, you have to know in your heart that you are doing the right thing for the kid," she said.
Now that she may not be overseeing the mega-successful career she built, Jonetta Patton could be an in-demand free agent.
"[Execs at Usher's label] think Jonetta's done an incredible job with his career," the "friend" told the 'Daily News.' "They're encouraging her to take on Britney Spears."
I would pay to see that happen.
Maybe Brit would too.
Ha.
According to a rep for the E! network, 'Hollywood Moms' "uncovers the talked-about tales of celebrity moms like Spears, Kate Moss and B."
Bow Wow's mom, Theresa Caldwell was also interviewed for the special.
Now, that sounds like some "Must See TV."

Well, At some point in a MAN'S life, He has to stand up and be a man!!
We really don't know the circumstances surrounding the situation between usher and his mom.
Although......there are men/women that WILL choose a spouse over their mothers.
I don't really believe that usher is so "p-whipped" that he would do his mom like that.
Until I hear from the "horse" himself, I will keep being a Usher fan!!!!!

This is just a cold thing to do so close to Mother's day. I wish he had waited till next month, or at least have the dignity to let his mother leave on her own, then we could all say she quit..for whatever reason. I hate to see this happen to her, I too dont believe nothing good wil come from this manuever. As for his "soon-2-b-wife...WTF?..IS HE THAT PUSSY-WHIPPED? And did i read correctly..that she's pregnant((( AND SHE IS CARRYING HER EX BABY SHE IS NOW 6 MORTHS DAME DAME DAME.)))..OH MY GOD..what a disaster.

If Usher marries Ms. Foster he better make sure he makes her sign a pre nuptial agreement, this girl is only out for the money, Ms. Foster is originally from California and attended Berkeley High School, she has slept around with numerous stars as well as basket ball players. She has forgotten where she came from she claims she is no longer associating herself with anyone that she grew up with or friends that she had before landing her stylist career in Atlanta. USHER, SHE AIN"T NOTHING BUT A GOLD DIGGER. I think some needs to release those skeleton's from her closet, because obviously this young man is blinded or p%&*y whooped.

I WOULD NOT USUALLY REPLY TO SUCH NONSENSE, BUT AFTER READING THIS S%@T ABOUT USHER BEING MARRIED TO A 38YR OLD DIVORCEE WITH THREE CHILDREN I SAID, WHAT THE F$&K IS HE THINKING. USHER IF YOU READ THIS SWEETY, YOU ARE INDEED A VERY TALENTED AND ATTRACTIVE YOUNG MAN, PLEASE DON'T PLAY YOUR SELF AND GET INVOLVED WITH A READY MADE FAMILY THAT PROBABLY HAS NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS TO OFFER TO YOU. FIND YOUR WAY BACK TO CHILLIE. BOTH OF YOU ARE DEFINITELY A COUPLE THAT CAN LIGHT THE SKY.

Usher i just want to say that you better think twice before u marry her. she is only 4 years older than me an she has a lot of life experince than you do. puls when you get in you mid thirtys she will be in her later fourtys and her children will be almost teenagers. i know you love her. but i just took my son out of the same problem cause she began to come between my son and me. but i seen what kind 0f woman she was and she was ten years older than him and he and i are close but i told him to take his time cause that one was not the one for him and he found out be for it was to late. u see all i can say to you that if you are thinking of droping your mom you better think twice.she got you this far in life. pray about it. cause if you lost all your money to day would she stay?if not you no your mom will always be there when nobody elese will. and check her motives is she just lookin for a daddy at her age. cause looks fade as we get older will she look good to you ten years from now? its not all about love cause love fades its the inner beauty and god fearing woman that keeps a happy marriage going and knowing her place in the marraige is she going to let you be head of the house hold orjust the money maker. you better pray about it and let god lead cause you have to much to lose and you worked to hard for what you have. i am not saying dont be happy but make sure you no what you are doing and take your time.even if it takes another year.

Some may look at this situation as a bad thing, but just maybe she decided to break away from the business. Here it is she's been overseeing her sons career for ten years and maybe she feels like someone else, if not Usher, should be in control of his own career. Instead, of having his mommy make all his decision for him. She's pushing him out into manhood like most parents would do when their kids turn 18. Usher should take this and run with it because he has the power to dictate how he wants to conduct business. If messing with Foster is messing with his game eventually he'll figure it out and see her for what she truly is a gold digger. If Foster influenced his decision to give his mom the boot then he needs to redirect his focus because that sounds like a sister trying to get her hands in the cookie jar. Hopefully everything works out for mom and Usher because it was long overdue. May mom can find her some fun for herself and enjoy life without all of the other industry nonsense.

I really don't see the problem. I think everyone is jumping to conclusions, when they really don't even know the full story. I don't see how anyone can comment on the firing of his mom, when you don't even know the circumstances. Look people, we don't know Usher Raymond...we just know Usher, the entertainer. We don't know his family, his girl, or what goes on behind the scenes. I'm sure there is more to the story. "But that's his mom, and his mom comes first, blah blah blah" Ok, I hear you, but maybe it's time for her to just be mom, and maybe even grandma. Change is inevitable, people get fired, that's life.
