Maia Campbell is a wanted woman.
And not in a good way.
The bronze beauty, who bubbled up as one of Black Hollywood's "ones to watch' during the 1990s, is in the center of a Philadelphia-area police investigation.
Mount Airy's Kevin Taylor filed a police report Monday accusing Campbell, with stealing his Jeep in Germantown, reports 'The Philadelphia Daily News.'
"According to Taylor and his friend Steve Johnson, the pair left Campbell and the car keys alone in the white 1998 Jeep Cherokee registered to Taylor's father, Christ Taylor, as they went into Johnson's home to retrieve musical gear. When they came outside minutes later, Campbell and the car were gone, they said."
What in the world?
The eldest daughter of late best-selling authoress BeBe Moore Campbell, who co-starred with LL Cool J on the series 'In the House,' has been rumored to get into sticky situations over the years.
But this is much.
A near ten-year old Jeep?
Cherokee?
Come on now.
Campbell and her mother, who succumbed to brain cancer last November --one day after her 30th birthday -- were rumored to be estranged throughout the years. She is believed to be the subject of her last book '72 Hour Hold,' which deals with mentall illness.
In an interview with AOL Black Voices, one of her last, the NAACP Image Award winning author commented, "watching my loved one become violent and an incoherent stranger certainly tested my faith. My very close family member has bipolar disorder, which is a mood disorder - a disease of the brain."
Her daughter became fodder for internet chatroom and black gossip blogs when an alleged videoclip of her naked and singing surfaced.
Gossip website Mediatakeout.com went the extra step and alleged that the clip was made in exchange for crack.
"Sources say [she] has been floating around Germantown of late and doesn't seem to be in a good way," reports the 'News.'
Back to the Jeep Cherokee:
Taylor and Johnson said they each left messages on Campbell's cell phone, but she did not return the calls. Johnson befriended Campbell and invited her Monday to hang out with him and Taylor.
Northwest Detectives are investigating the auto theft.
Perhaps she should take up writing like her gifted mother. Her first book should be a memoir, titled 'A.P.B.'
Or 'Grand Theft Auto.'
Anyone with info on the whereabouts of the car or Campbell are encouraged to call 215-686-3353.

Why do we (black people) always try to paraphrase the Bible in every situation that we have no knowledge directly related to the matter? Then using old world
"thy" and "art thou" to compensate for the degree of misquote only compounds the irony. I find the shit hilarious!

I new people who had bipolar and it isn't a luaghing matter. You never knew what a person was going to do until they did it. I don't think even she knew before it happened. She just did it whatever she did just to be doing something and it didn't matter who it hurt or herself for that matter. The drugs just made hit worse for Maia. Drugs are never the answer. There are alot of people who don't know about the this disease and if they did lets see how long they can watch a person on suiside watch or whatever due to the fact as soon as a person turns their back on them just for a second the person with the disease is already trying to off themselves or actually succeed. Before anybody judges Maia or anybody else for that matter maybe that person doing the judging needs to take a hard look at themselves to see if their life is soooooooo perfect. I am sure if these judgemental types look into their own lives and stop worrying about others lives they will see that their life isn't as perfect as they thought. Besides who made them a God to judge and condemn all. They need to jugde themselves before they can judge all. They must be republicans cause they don't mind putting a mentally ill person in prison or give them the death penality. Maia needs help and support from her true friends and family. I hope they find her cause you never know what she may do to herself or to another person.

I'm disgusted to hear the ignorance on this site alone.
Bipolar Disorder is a serious and debilitating illness The illness removes the victim from reality and places them in grave danger, and a beautiful girl with this disease is simply a target, for predators...apparently predators are everywhere, including the media and news talk sites. It's obvious that the person we should be saying "c'mon now" to is Karu for unprofessional and unethical reporting. The woman is mentally ill...what part of mental illness is not understood? I guess intelligence must not be a major requirement to do commentary...@@. Sadly this is just another display of our community not supporting our own. Mai is a tragic figure, just as the many other victims of Bipolar and schizophrenia which often accompany each other. While this reporter ridicules one of these victims...he also ridicules his own disorder, which is lackof character. I pray for Mai and all the other victims of this disease who are out there lost and vulnerable. May God have mercy on the rest of you that can't seem to find any, for one of his lost.

THAT'S SO SAD, BUT I HAVE TO AGREE WITH SOME OF THE COMMENTS AND IN ANOTHER SENTENCE SOMEONE NEEDS TO FIND AND TO GET HER THE HELP SHE NEEDS. SHE NEEDS TO BE THERE FOR HER CHILD, INSTEED OF TALKING ABOUT HER SOMEONE TO FIND HER AND BE THE FRIEND SHE NEEDS. MY GOSH PEOPLE HAVE A HEART SHE'S A SISTA!!!!!!!

To all the critics...Mai's makeup is characteristic of her disease. She is unable to perceive reality as we see it, hallucinations and an inability to guage content or time, is also symptomatic. I have a close family member who suffers from the disease, and it is not her issue alone, I spend hours searching for her and there are times when I find her, that I want to kill someone for what they've done to her. Drug addiction is product of the disease not the other way around. Can you imagine the terror of voices that are never quiet? Being surrounded by people you don't recognize from one moment to the next? My heart broke one day, when I was chiding my Bipolar victim about using to much baby powder after a bath...she looked sadly at me and said...I don't know how much is too much...that's when I finally and clearly understood the confusion dealt with on a constant basis for her and other Bipolar victims...for any victim of mental illness. That there are those of us fortunate enough to have normal perception and productive lives, who find it acceptable to laugh at tragedy, makes one question who's truly ill out here!

Peace,
I just wanted to say I agree that Bipolar is nothing to laugh at, it is a sickness.
However I want to point something else out: there are Soooooooooooo many celebs and world renown famous people who have mental health issues from Rosanne Bar with OCD and depression at times, to Alvin Ailey dance professional who had Bipolar along with Axel Rose, Sting, Ben Stiller, DMX and many more.
Manic Depressive celebs and famous people are: Christie McNichole, Plato, Edgar Allen Poe, Liz Taylor, JeanClaudVandam(also bipolar), Jim Carey, Drew Carey, Agatha Christie, Francis Ford Copola, heck even President Abraham Lincoln was Manic.
So no one is lost because they have mental health issues, but they just need to accept it, and get help. Drugs only worsen the situation; along with ignorant people to knock those with the illnesses, and don't do anything to help or support them, even if through prayer alone. Anyone can get these illnesses, I've seen people become subject to these illnesses due to work related stress, as stress is a huge factor. So laugh today, and it could be you tomorrow.
I will pray for her, and GOD willing her celeb friends will help her get the help she needs.
Peace

To: Karu F. Daniels...may you never have a family member who suffers from this disease or any other mental disorder...you'd have to wonder how much of your thoughtless words and effort might have attracted ill energy to your environment, which would include family. Hopefully in the future you will find a different and less inhumane topic to humorize about. Check your self and feel for a conscience, if you truly have none...pray for one!
