FOXY BROWN: What in God's Name?

According to a cover story in the New York Daily News, rap vixen Foxy Brown was assaulted and robbed in Brooklyn over the weekend. While it isn't as fleshed out as 'The New York Times,' Big Apple tabloid 'The New York Daily News' has always taken an above-the-board approach to its celebrity reporting -- and hip-hop coverage for that matter.

But that tabloid made me do a double take on Sunday afternoon as I strolled down Manhattan's Sixth Avenue and saw the headline 'FOXY DOWN' with former platinum-plated hip-hop superstar Foxy Brown accompanying the bold lettering.

After a closer inspection, the subtitle read: "Women beat rapper in B'klyn, yank out hearing aid, hair weave.'

I literally had to pick my mouth up from off the ground.

I tore through the newspaper and read the story.

It's scandal!!!

foxy brown made the cover of the June 24 edition of 'The New York Daily News' with a far-fetched story of being assaulted in the notorious Brooklyn project, The Pink Houses.'Daily News' staff writers Alison Gendar and Tina Moore reported that "trouble-prone rapper Foxy Brown was attacked yesterday by three of her ex-boyfriend's gal pals - who pulled out her hearing aid and tore her hair weave at his prompting, police sources said."
Hearing aid?

Hair weave???

Oh no.

"The assault occurred after the hip-hop artist dumped her beau at 5:30 a.m. in Brooklyn because she found out he was a pimp, sources said."

Pimp???

"The two were in his car in East New York, and she "was giving him the heave-ho," one source said."

East New York???

What in the world?

Foxy Brown. The story continued: "'This ex-boyfriend called some of his women, and they pounced on her,' another police source said. 'They beat her bad. They ripped out her hair weave. Her hair was a mess - and that seems to be what she cared about most. The women also stole Brown's handbag and $500, the sources said."

Whoa!!!

"The wild dustup occurred after the 27-year-old rap diva and her unidentified boyfriend had attended a party at the Louis H. Pink Houses."

The notorious Pink Houses projects?

See it's stuff like this that makes me want to throw this computer out the window sometimes.

What is really going on with Brown, legally known as Inga Marchand?

Seems as though only God knows.

foxy brown has been a mainstay in the media for the last few years.Known for her profanity-laced hip-hop prose (11 years ago, at the age of 16, she topped the charts on a duet with Jay-Z titled 'Ain't No (N-WORD),' the Brooklyn-bred hip-hop sexpot has been running around, lately, with hip-hop activist Benjamin Chavis -- of the Russell Simmons-founded Hip Hop Action Network. That's in between court appearances for violating probation, assaulting manicurists, getting into rap wars with other female rappers and other thoughtless silliness.

This latest drama keeps her in the headlines -- but not in a good way.

In the fall of 2005, she peaked in the mainstream media with a splashy cover story about her losing her hearing. She was miraculously cured months later, staging a press conference at BET's New York headquarters -- featuring a three-ring circus of celebrity, who turned out to support her.

Her last album for Def Jam Records, 'Broken Silence,' was released in 2001 with sales certifying gold status.

According to recent reports, the pint-sized hip-hopper plans to release her new album independently.

Her last known publicist did not wish to comment about this 'Daily News' report.

UPDATE: 'The New York Post' offers a different spin to this story.
