"If you ask, 'Do you feel that rappers should take responsibility for the things they say? I'd say yes! If you ask me, Do you think sometimes rappers can go too far? I'd say sometimes, yeah! But if you ask me, Do you think rappers should be forced to take the word b*tch, n*gga and h* out of their music? I'd say no! Unless you're going to take b*tches, n*ggas, and h*s out of the neighborhoods that these rappers come from, you're not going to be able to take it out of their music."
-- Platinum selling thug rap icon T.I. on the controversy surrounding rappers and the use of derogatory terms. ('Penthouse')

my problem with these words is that there are PLENTY of ppl out there who catagorize women and blacks by these words. WHOLE GROUPS OF PEOPLE are being identified by these words. i AM NOT a bitch, a hoe or a nigger. but b/c i happen to look like the ppl that you catagorize by these words, apparently, that's what you think i am. but you couldn't be further from the truth. i cannot forget how many damn times when i stood up for my morals or standards that i got called out of my name. b/c i didn't fall to the level of those that used these words, i'm the bad guy. the sellout. seriously, black ppl, we need to look at the damage we're doing to ourselves by using these words.

nigga, bitch and ho are used to describe ones own wretchedness. those who want to continue to use them do so because of some deeply rooted problem within themselves. their sickness is so deep, that they can gleefully tell the world that these are the only words they know to define themselves.

I see many of us are devided on this issue. Have we had a poll to see who wants to rid our culture of the N word (that is the word Nigga not Nigger we are talking about here), or who doesn't see anything wrong with it the word Nigga in the context it's being used? I'd like to see the poll results.
The whole politics and media banning of the " N word" remindes me of the overnight acceptance by mainstream media (not necessarily voted on by the real folks like you and me)to call me African American. I was Black, I am still Black and I am Black and proud. Now my friends born in Nigera they are African Americans. If I have to be called anything that goes back over a million then call me Native American of African decent. But I prefer to be called Black.
Now about the N word. I have to first say I appricate and respect those who had to endure slavery and civil rights movements. But i must say it is 2007 and the word isn't " nigger" it's nigga, and its not said in a bad way or insulting way. Why can't we take a historical bad thing tweek it and make it good. This generation doesn't say well you ain't nothin but a nigga. They say I love ya my nigga. Its not so much about what you say as much as it is how you say it. If I said you ain't nothing but a knucle head. One could take offense, but if I said come here you sweet knucle head they would not take offense. As far as the N word, I think the old school 55 year old and up should get over it.

I think the word Nigga is used affectionately and not in a negative way. The word B****** and h** is not used in any nice way. Its said out of spite and malice, and it's not something we use in casual conversation to each other. No man walks up to me and say hey B***** or hey H** long time no see. If he did he may get smacked. But if he said what's up my Nigga long time no see, I would not find offense. Now if he said whats up Nigger. I might get offended.
