Four time Emmy Award winning actress Alfre Woodard will next star in the Hallmark Hall of Fame telefilm 'Pictures of Hollis Woods.'
Based on Patricia Reilly Giff's book of the same name, the movie centers on 12-year-old Hollis Woods (played by Jodelle Ferland) who, after being abandoned as a baby, has bounced around the foster-care system until she meets Josie (played by Sissy Spacek), a quirky retired art teacher who understands her and gives her unconditional love.
Woodard will play the girl's social worker.
James Tupper will play a previous foster parent whose family wanted to adopt Hollis, until tragedy struck.
'Woods' is currently in production and is slated to premiere on the specialty cable channel later this year.
During the 2005-2006 season, the Tulsa, Oklahoma-born thespian starred as the loony Betty Applewhite on ABC's hit series 'Desperate Housewives.' This followed a cavalcade of remarkable roles on film in television, which include 'Down in the Delta,' 'Love & Basketball,' 'Crooklyn' and 'The Tuskegee Airmen.'
Woodard has also been announced to join rootsy rapper and acclaimed actor Mos Def in the upcoming drama 'Bury Me Standing.'

i love Alfre Woodard in anything she plays in, even if it is an ad shot on tv. she is a good actress, she takes on her roles like she is that person. i would love to see more of her in some starring roles. she is just great. she is so low keyed, when she comes out, she makes a statement. i rreally hope to see more of her acting in the future.

I love Alfrie, she was great as Sanaa Lathan's mom in Something New. She play that role to a tee, she must have studied some uptight, maidens of the surburbs, with more money than they knew what to do with.

Love Alfre Woodard. I especially liked her in the movie Holiday Heart. She is a true actress. Hollywood today seems to bypass the talet for the "beauty" of young, rail thin, fake people. She is awesome and I wish Hollywood would really give her her dues. MORE STARING ROLES!!!
