Is Patti LaBelle the latest black notable in the running for a co-host gig on ABC's popular chat-fest 'The View'?
Possibly, a source close to the Grammy Award winning R&B legend told 'The BV Newswire' today.
"She would definitely consider it," the insider said about the prospect of having the Philadelphia soul sister shake things up on a daily basis with Barbara Walters, Joy Behar and Elisabeth Hasselback.
The motor-mouthed diva would be a far cry from some of the other black faces -- including Whoopi Goldberg, Sherri Shepherd and Gayle King -- the beleaguered Walters-helmed talker has rolled out as guest co-hosts lately.
Since the headline grabbing Rosie O'Donnell vacated her seat as chief moderator of 'The View,' in May, there are still two slots to fill to make up the quintet. The show's original co-host Star Jones-Reynolds "prematurely" announced that she was departing the show a year before, causing a media stir for Walters.
LaBelle, who is enjoying a near 50-year career in the music business (in 1958, she formed the quartet The Ordettes), is no stranger for the talk-show television format. Aside from being a featured guest on every major chat-fest, the woman formerly known as Patricia Holt-Armstead voiced the theme to 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' for a few seasons in the late 1990s, following her numerous and memorable appearances on the show, while promoting her best-selling cookbook 'LaBelle Cuisine.'
The 63-year-old former Labelle front-woman, who is known to be one of the more outspoken personalities in her class, also hosts her own TV One show, 'Living It Up with Patti LaBelle.'
A spokeswoman for LaBelle was not available at press time.

i believe she would hve the crowds laughing harder than ever and she's very spoken on all levels she can stand that ground wth any one on any subject you bring it to her cause she's that type of woman and i stand on the side of her cheering her on you go girl

Let me say that all these women would be fine additions to the cast of the View. It might be a good idea to take on two of them and fire the pregnant woman for doing what she did to Rosie. What better way to move on without taking sides? If only one of these women can get the position, I cast my vote for Patti LaBelle. This Diva earns her check by just showing up. She's on Barbara's level. Whoopi would be required to be edgy or funny and that's dangerous. Gale King would make the show Oprah. How long is the View going to last anyway? It looks overcast to me.

Don't do it Patti. i love you too much girl, and the View is just a sinking ship. Joy, Barbara and Elisabeth are like the 3 stooges, they don't need anyone else.

I agree with Camri, Patti shouldn't do it. In fact no black women should get on that show with those crazy women. I dislike how media tries to fit black women into their shows. Like one black person makes it right. The topics they address are not our problems. It's okay for them to just add another white women they shouldn't feel as if they NEED to add another black women we know they don't really want one anyway. Maybe they should go for another race since they feel as if they need someone of another culture to be in that lonely chair to the left of Barbara.

Patti will be a great addition, however, the view is full of negative energy so I hope this does not affect Patti's positive aura.

Patti would make the show a hit. I would watch it just to see Ms. LaBelle do her thing. She is all class and very down to earth. I know she would speak her mind with dignity and respect for others, unlike Rosie. And by the way no one did Rosie wrong she cut her own throat and she is still doing it. She used that show as a way to get on tv and have someone listen to her crazed antics. She was wrong and everyone knows it.
