No other details were offered about a black remake of 'Cat on a Hot Tin Roof,' but theater wiz Kenny Leon -- who was initially attached to the much-buzzed about production -- is bringing another classic to Broadway.
Fresh off the heels of directing August Wilson's last play 'Radio Golf,' Leon is on board to direct a stage production of the Academy Award winning film 'Guess Who's Coming To Dinner.'
Jeffrey Finn, who brought a black version of 'On Golden Pond' to Broadway -- starring James Earl Jones and Leslie Uggams -- in 2004, is developing the project.
According to 'Playbill,' no theatre, dates or performers have been announced, but the play is tentatively slated to open in fall of 2008.
Leon, who also directed Wilson's masterful 'Gem of the Ocean' and the critically acclaimed revival of 'A Raisin in the Sun' (on Broadway and for an upcoming ABC movie), will also reportedly serve as the artistic director for The Kennedy Center's "August Wilson's 20th Century" tribute -- the first chronological look at all ten Wilson plays during a month of showcase productions, set to open next spring.

Here's another great reason to go to Broadway. We need more great plays to hit Broadway.

HOPEFULLY WHEN THIS COMES TO BROADWAY BLACK FOLKS WILL COME OUT IN SUPPORT IT , BECAUSE THE REASON THERE IS NOT MORE THINGS FOR US ON BROADWAY TO SEE IS CAUSE WHEN THEY COME WE ARE TO BUSY BREAKING OUR NECKS GOING TO BUY TICKETS FOR SOME STUPID A$% MADEA PLAY. BLACKS NEVER WANT TO SEE SOMETHING WITH MEANING OR SOMETHING THATS GOING TO MAKE THEM USE THERE BRAINS.

KENNY LEON, "WALK ON THE WILD SIDE" WOULD BE A GREAT MOVIE TO BRING TO BROADWAY TOO. DON'T YOU THINK SO? I THINK SO TOO.

#2 Please don't speak for all black people because if they had more of us on Broadway than we would go see it.. We just recently seen our own self on there within like the last 10 years so for you to bring up a Madea Play is irrelavent... Also to comment on that Madea travels the states Broadway is in one location.. So by the time you Buy your ticket for a plane (lets face it not everyone live near Broadway), Buy your ticket for the show, and then buy another hotel tickets that you are broke.. i would love to go to a Broadway show but lets face it our economy isn't weaking for supply and demand and I have to work... So please don't speak for a whole race.. Speak for yourself.. As far as this gentleman going to perform Broadway go ahead brother and do your thang.. Not only him but for all my African Americans who are on Broadway I read you all are doing exceptionally "Well" keep up the good work and thank you all for being the people you are to change the faces on Broadway.. Thats my Time This is Gabrielle from Florida signing off.. Thank you all for your time..

I think instead of being a critic why don't you write a play and make it intresting and we will come see it. Then if its not great we should get on a blog and say the same things about you. I found it very troubling that every time there is a blog forum like: BV,TMZ or Everybody Hates Marcus we as black people try our best to tear each other down. The Jack and jill class of black folks would not understand Madea's comedy and I'm not speaking for all of them but the ones who go to the play and sit there with there faces all twisted up that kills me. If you can't stand Tyler Perry then don't buy a ticket or don't buy a movie cause it gonna be hood comedy with hood tatics and that my friend is real art.

"cause it gonna be hood comedy with hood tatics and that my friend is real art" Now that's about the funniest thing I've read all day.
