Melanie Brown appears to not only be a new mother -- she's also a new wife.
Eddie Murphy's latest baby's mama, who broke her silence a few weeks ago via Essence magazine, appears to be secretly married to the handsome young lad she's been painting the town with.
According to published reports, Nevada marriage records show that the black Spice Girls diva wed Stephen Belafonte in Las Vegas in June. The couple reportedly tied the knot June 6, according to a marriage license filed in Clark County.
"Regarding the marriage, Mel and Stephen have know each other for many years and were great friends first. Now they are deeply in love. The two are very happy together," Brown's rep said in a statement.
"He was a really good friend and good support to me during my pregnancy," she said of the music producer - who shares the same last name and charming looks as legendary entertainer and humanitarian Harry Belafonte -- during a recent interview with People magazine. "He's a really sweet guy."
Brown, professionally known as Mel B and "Scary Spice," was due to appear on 'Larry King Live' tonight but reportedly canceled because of illness.
She's been enthralled in a controversial paternity scandal with the Academy Award winning 'Beverly Hills Cop' star, who didn't readily acknowledge their daughter Angel Iris Murphy Brown.
Since it was proven that DNA results show that Murphy is, indeed, the father of the beautiful brown baby, Mel B. has become a sort of shining emblem for "wronged baby's mothers everywhere."
She told Essence that the pregnancy was "completely planned" -- and even upped the ante by hiring renowned legal eagle Gloria Allred as her attorney. Allred is like a pit-bull in Chanel.
The media attention on Brown, who says she's 32, has not affected her and Belafonte's relationship whatsoever. "We don't really play into that world," she said. "We just have our own little thing going on."
Brown has an eight-year-old daughter, Phoenix Chi, from a previous marriage.
Dejected single mom she is not.
What a way to do it, Mel.

I don't understand why she was making all the fuss then over Eddie if she was so in luv with this new gentleman. Did she take some time off from to get w/Eddie?

Could this situation get any more tackier of course it can. Answer me this how do you have a fiancee and plan to have another baby with another man and your fiancee now husband is cool with it. I smell stank P*&&y whipped punk and I am being nice in saying that.
I feel sorry for the kids shaking my heads on this one yet again.

I was feeling Spice's story at first. Then I read the Essence article and I got the feeling it was all about what Spice wanted. Eddie isn't right by no means but I doubt if he had much say in the relationship. If Eddis wanted a baby so bad which I find hard to believe why didn't she wait for the marriage they were planning. I think Spice is a smooth operator who moved a little to fast. I also thought the meeting of the kids and moms was cool but not in a public place where some of the media was called to attend. These women were not thinking of the kids. This is all based on revenge and the scorned women. Also with Eddie rumored history of sleeping with men why would'nt she protect herself by having him wear a condom. I smell something not quite right on both sides of this coin.

This is some nasty s#($*t right here. There were rumors that eddie had her investigated & pics of her & another man surfaced & that's the reason he questioned being the baby's father. This chick has some serious issues & so does her new husband. He changed his name so people would think he was related to harry belafonte? TACKY! Rumors of him giving "couch treatment" to get ahead in the industry. NASSY!A shady past including a criminal history..way to pick em Mel LMAO - I give them 6mos.

CONGRATULATIONS MEL...on getting paid..CHI-CHING!!! if a woman is going to have an illegitimate, or bastard child, she may as well do it with an elderly man who can provide well for the baby... you also get bonus points for tapping into to murphys' millions...this will be a delightful treat for you and the baby for many years to come. Regardless of whether or not this chick is playing w/a full deck or not, it doesn't excuse the fact that her baby's daddy, an old man no less or at least way old enough to know better, was willing to take on the mentality of an irresponsible teenager in doing all he could to ignore his impending fatherhood...Mel's swift marriage in the midst of it all and Murphy's avoidance to accept it all makes them both a little tacky.
