Melanie Brown appears to not only be a new mother -- she's also a new wife.
Eddie Murphy's latest baby's mama, who broke her silence a few weeks ago via Essence magazine, appears to be secretly married to the handsome young lad she's been painting the town with.
According to published reports, Nevada marriage records show that the black Spice Girls diva wed Stephen Belafonte in Las Vegas in June. The couple reportedly tied the knot June 6, according to a marriage license filed in Clark County.
"Regarding the marriage, Mel and Stephen have know each other for many years and were great friends first. Now they are deeply in love. The two are very happy together," Brown's rep said in a statement.
"He was a really good friend and good support to me during my pregnancy," she said of the music producer - who shares the same last name and charming looks as legendary entertainer and humanitarian Harry Belafonte -- during a recent interview with People magazine. "He's a really sweet guy."
Brown, professionally known as Mel B and "Scary Spice," was due to appear on 'Larry King Live' tonight but reportedly canceled because of illness.
She's been enthralled in a controversial paternity scandal with the Academy Award winning 'Beverly Hills Cop' star, who didn't readily acknowledge their daughter Angel Iris Murphy Brown.
Since it was proven that DNA results show that Murphy is, indeed, the father of the beautiful brown baby, Mel B. has become a sort of shining emblem for "wronged baby's mothers everywhere."
She told Essence that the pregnancy was "completely planned" -- and even upped the ante by hiring renowned legal eagle Gloria Allred as her attorney. Allred is like a pit-bull in Chanel.
The media attention on Brown, who says she's 32, has not affected her and Belafonte's relationship whatsoever. "We don't really play into that world," she said. "We just have our own little thing going on."
Brown has an eight-year-old daughter, Phoenix Chi, from a previous marriage.
Dejected single mom she is not.
What a way to do it, Mel.

More power to her. I ain't mad at her. It's clear Eddie has moved on, makes pretty good sense that Mel B is doing the same. The best of luck to her and her husband.

True Dat I'm sorry honey I have to disagree with you on that one comment! First if a women can't take care of herself without a man then how is she gonna take care of herself and a child(ren). Dont' have them until 1)you are marry;2)you can take care of them alone;3)nothing in life is gtd even a man! I know of women who has 2 or more kids then they go out and contiune(single)having kids, why? Yes I'm for child support either being paid by women, or men and yes some are getting away with little or none at all but you know what we as women sure be able to hold doen even when there is no one..Some women lives for child support..well with this I say if you are single with 1,2 then don't set out and have 7 then this means you aren't handling your own because more then likely money coming in from somewhere..not only does child support suppose to handle shelter, clothing, food, etc...not all the time it will..so then it falls back on the women..well if you can't make it with 1 then don't contiune to have more..think..This is why for some women who complains about having to do it all with little money etc and the man isn't there..hello these women pick these types of men..children acn't choose who their parents are, you have adults acting like teenagers..it's time for wmen to grow up!

I said before this girl is crazy and full of drama. She is so confused and then she's bringing little girls into her confusion, she needs help! If you could move on that fast after just going through the whole paternity issue, I would have doubts about the baby as well. Why do women just have a baby by a man that they know from the gate is not serious about them? I don't get the whole baby mama drama where's your pride!!!!!

First of all to all the people dissin Mel- B, rack up on your knowledge! point blank bottom line the spice girls was one of the top grossing female bands of the 90's. So trust she got cheese.Plus not everybody spends money as an after thought as some of us do. So how do you know whats in her bank account? Plus no matter what Eddie do he still go be funny as hell makin us laugh. For everyman out there tryin to sound of on Mel B shut the hell up. fa real he knew there was at least posibility of him being the father. You act like she tried to pin a monkey on him.no dumb asses it was a baby,a beautiful baby at that. It is so maniy beautiful babies out here without a daddy because they choose to be stupid and let pride get in the way. You gotta dis yo kid because she proved you wrong. Well good luck stupid cause child support bites.

I read most of the previous comments with amusement. Maybe I'm missing something here. Their VERY brief fling lasted ONLY SIX WEEKS!!! Yet, here she was cryin' and snottin' in front of the cameras yappin' about how they had this 'whirlwind romance?!?' I mean really, gimme a break!!! True, Eddie didn't use protection. However, he wasn't the ONLY irresponsible one. SHE didn't protect herself, either!!! Also, Eddie did NOT come forth bad-mouthing her and dissin' the child. He simply said he'd rely on the DNA test to determine whether or not he was the father and, if so, would take care of what he HELPED bring into this world. Kudos to Eddie!!! I'm sure he will take care of this child as he is his other children. Hell, if I were him and had a choice between Tracey Edmonds and Mel, I'd go with Tracey, too! After all, she seems to be by far the most level-headed and mature of the two Women!
