Cedric the Entertainer is readying his return to the small screen as a star in a new yet-to-be-titled pilot for ABC.
The 'Original Kings of Comedy' star is set to play a man who has always been the proud breadwinner for his family and has difficulty adjusting when his wife's hobby turns into a multimillion-dollar enterprise, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The pilot marks the St. Louis area native's return to the small screen after his short-lived Fox sketch comedy series 'Cedric the Entertainer Presents' hit the skids after its first season in 2002.
If picked up, the new show will be ABC's first comedy starting a predominantly African American cast since 'My Wife and Kids,' featuring Damon Wayans and Tisha Campbell-Martin, which ended a four year run in 2005.
Cedric The Entertainer (legally known as Cedric Antonio Kyles) is currently starring in Kasi Lemmons' critically-acclaimed film, 'Talk to Me.' His last role, was the lead in the critically-panned farce 'Codename: The Cleaner.'
He should fare better with his next role in Malcolm Lee's family comedy 'The Better Man,' starring Martin Lawrence, James Earl Jones, Mike Epps, Mo'Nique, Joy Bryant, Nicole Ari Parker and Margaret Avery --due in theaters at the top of next year.

Glad to see Cedric back on TV. I actually miss his sketch show. My favorite sketch was when he played the lunch lady "We ain't got no mo' green beans, just mashed 'tatoes and corn!"

Good for Cedric... I've been a fan of Cedric from back in his stand-up comedian days on comic view... I always thought this brother know how to wear a suit always looking fly... I recently had the privilege to attend one of his show and it was hilarious. I laugh so much my throat was hoarse for two days, But I had a good time and so did Cedric... I wish him the best he is really a talentd comedian.

I love Cedric and i hope this show is something that is actually worthy of him, and not just total buffoonery.

I just hope Cedric doesn't try to do a skit about the Geico Cavemen. On second thought, poking fun at them would be better than having an actual show. Think of the fun they could have if they find their way out of the cave? Cedric could do a "Barber Shop" skit with them coming in and it could actually be funny. Cedric is one of the few that actually have real talent. A creative genius. Drive that "Deisel Deuce and a Bit" to success! Soon you can afford your own Space Shuttle if you want one slightly used?

He's not funny at all, and his sketch comedy 2 was garbage!
