The estranged husband of battered televangelist Juanita Bynum is back in stride again.
According to published reports, Bishop Thomas W. Weeks, III didn't miss a beat during Sunday service -- two days after turning himself into Atlanta authorities for assaulting his wife -- and was met by cheers and applause from parishioners at the Global Destiny Ministries.
Good God Almighty.
Weeks said the devil was behind his current situation, reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution newspaper, and also expressed appreciation for the prayers and support he and his wife have received.
As previously reported by The BV Newswire, police said Weeks assaulted the Pentecostal Prophetess during an argument on Aug. 21 outside of an Atlanta hotel.
After a media frenzy ensued about the near fatal attack, Weeks surrendered to Atlanta police Friday morning. Bond was set at $30,000 on a charge of aggravated assault and $10,000 on a charge of terroristic threats, and a magistrate ordered Weeks to have no contact with Bynum or her sister, Tina Culpepper.
But that didn't stop him from tending to his business affairs at the church he founded in Atlanta.
"We've got certain things going on right now, but I refuse to stop coming to the house God built," he reportedly said during his brief appearance before introducing a guest minister and leaving the room.
Members of his congregation didn't mind talking to the newspaper about their feelings about the controversial scandal.
"There are three sides to every story," said frequent visitor Shannon Mayers. "Nobody has the right to judge anybody. God is in the midst of that and will work it out."
Meanwhile, 26-year-old Maurice Adams said he was disappointed to hear the news but still considers Weeks his bishop. "We all make mistakes. He deserves another opportunity," Adams said. "I'm hurt, but I do respect him for being man enough to show his face today."
Weeks is due in Fulton County Superior Court on Sept. 7.

Spousal abuse is not acceptable under any circumstances. Indeed, "man's inhumanity to man" is probably the greatest anti-Christ behavior one can engage in. I do not believe that the culprit in this case should continue to wear the title Bishop or whatever his formal Christian title is/was!!! The man is obviously a self-centered, self-seeking tyrant who dares to perpetrate physical abuse upon a woman, his wife, the precious flower he should honor and protect. The man is absolutely despiccable and those professed Christians who continue to support him are a great disservice to Christianity. What hypocrites!!!

PEOPLE ARE PEOPLE WETHER THEY ARE IN THE PULPIT OR NOT. WE DON'T KNOW ALL THE DETAILS OF THIS SITUATION AND THERE MUST BE A REASON SHE IS NOT SCREAMING FOR A DIVORSE. SOMEONE WITH AS MUCH PASSION AND FIRE AS SISTER BYNUM DISPLAYS WHEN SHE IS PREACHING IS AT RISK IF THAT FIRE GOES IN THE WRONG DIRECTION AND SHE CAN'T CALM IT DOWN AND HE CAN'T GET HER TO CALM DOWN. NO NOT AT ALL AM I SAYING THAT ANY WOMAN EVER DESERVES TO BE TREATED IN THAT WAY. MY PIONT IS THAT THE DEVEL WILL USE A GIFT THAT GOD MEANT FOR GOOD AGAINST YOU. THEY BOTH SHOULD REALIZE THAT NO ONE NO MATTER HOW SPIRITUALLY GIFTED IS ALWAYS RIGHT.

Bishop Weeks is a disgrace and a fraud. He needs to take responsibily and not blame his wicked actions on the devil. It is his OWN SIN.

I feel that ministers already have a tough time as it is being who they are. What Bishop Weeks did to his wife was uncall for.First of all he knows that they are in the public eye.He assualted her in public! That only added to the stain preachers have on them already!I understand that we all go through trials and tribulations but if we can not look to our leaders to set good examples for us then what's the point of following them!? Suppose there's a weak minded member in his congregation who decides to use what he did as an excuse to beat his own wife!? I know the devil is powerful and has a way of making us do things that we regret later on. However the word of God teaches us to think before we act and it's sad to say that we don't always practice what we preach!

THIS IS REDICULOUS! ALMOST EVERY WEEK SOME MINISTER "GETS CAUGHT." OF COURSE, THEY ALL DENY DOING ANYTHING REALLY WRONG....JUST GAVE IN TO TEMPTATION. (BECAUSE THEY GOT "CAUGHT." ORAL ROBERTS SON WAS "ON" LAST WEEK...FOR SPENDING TONS OF MONEY ON HOUSES, BOATS, TRIPS TO EUROPE, JEWELRY ETC....HOW SICK, HOW SAD.

I think by her ways that she would be the type of female that would pull a man's very last string and I ythink he and she knows that, she is a very powerful verbal female and it is probably that/ She kept using her tongue to assault him and she pushed him off the cliff. We are all human, too bad they both did not walk away before it got to this. They both are to blame

Blatant Christian Situation...oh so common among men of the cloth. Typical and a typical response....Christians completely lack the ability to take responsibility for their own crimes, protect each other, and never ever see that what they do is very very harmful to others.
I know, I know...he really is not a Christian.
