Juanita Bynum is back in business and ready for divorce.
The Pentecostal Prophetess, who made national headlines two weeks ago when her husband allegedly assaulted her in an Atlanta hotel parking lot, is pursuing legal avenues to end her marriage to Bishop Thomas Weeks, III.
Her spokesperson Amy Malone of GCI Public Relations did not respond to queries regarding published reports of the impending divorce proceedings.
"Bynum said she loves her husband but she is finished with what she called an abusive marriage," EURweb.com reported today. "She confessed she thought the routine heated arguments in their marriage were normal initially. She said she gave her attorney the go-ahead for divorce proceedings last week."
During an interview with Atlanta's Fox 5, the Chicago-born celebrity clergywoman said that this wasn't the first time they had a physical altercation but it had never been to this degree - only pushing and shoving. She said he had never physically drawn a fist back and hit her.
The former welfare recipient, flight attendant, hairdresser and anorexic reportedly said she will assist prosecutors with the aggravated assault case but she could not pass judgment on whether Weeks should go to jail.
She believes he still has redeeming qualities.
She said she doesn't believe her love for her husband will ever die and she thinks she could marry him twice -- but this one is over. She said he's a brilliant man and she believes God will get that purpose out of his life.
Maybe Weeks wasn't meant to be with her but she wished him the best.
Meanwhile, the Washington-based National Black Church Initiative is reportedly calling for his suspension as the leader of Global Destinies Ministries.

Yes, it is very important to remember, whethr you are a bishop or a tree climber, oppression(abuse) is oppression. God already worked it on on the cross when he allowed them to kick and beat him. Prophetess Bynum simply did what God requires us all to do, STAND.
This situation reminds of a couple Pastor/Evangelist in N.C. named MelvinBynum.(cry out ministries.) Her husband pastored the church and she copastored. Long story short, he abused her, (choked,strangled/killed) hhis sentence less than ten years.

I love the expression from the Bishop "don't give up on Love". Good point, do not ever give up on loving to stand up against oppression. The bible is full of oppressors, Pharoh was an oppressor, yet when he was found out by Moses, he like Bishop weeks never publicly apologize to the Hebrew children. Again, there is one side against oppression God's Word, and God hates oppression and I do as well. Abuse is another name for oppression. You church people with your heads in the sand, and your heart in the devil's house of compromise have gone to sleep in the lap of the enemy. Wake up. go to www.wral.tv.com search for Melvin Bynum a pastor who beat strangled and killed his wife. She had a lot of mentally challenged and spiritual paralyzed folk telling her the same fable.

Ok, If this were your girlfriend, sister, Mother, any of us would be like "GET RID OF HIM!" But because he supposed to be a man of God that people should just overlook this incident. NO! I agree with Dee, JUanita should move on and allow God to work with him AND with her. She is great preacher I have been watching her career for a longtime before she was a big. Maybe he wishes his ministry was as big as hers Bishop Weeks Who?
