Maxwell

Just in case you were wondering what happened to Maxwell, he's staging a comeback.

Billboard reports that the beloved neo-soul crooner will release a new album -- titled 'Black Summer's Night' -- next summer.

And Columbia Records music executive Kyambo "Hip-Hop" Joshua is helming the project, which seems like a welcomed reprieve from all of the flip-flop that's out there in the marketplace.

"He's recorded so much material that he's got a couple of albums done," Joshua said. 'Black Summer's Night' will supposedly be the first opus to bow from a trilogy to be released over the course of three years.

"He might be going out on the road touring for this album soon," he continued. "I won't say the album will drop first-quarter 2008, but [next] summer sounds good."

The 34-year-old 'Fortunate' singer will stick to his signature sound by continuing to work with Sade's legendary band.

A sample of the song 'Pretty Wings' is currently streaming on the artist's MySpace page.

'Black Summer's Night' will be Maxwell's first release since his 2001 effort 'Now,' which has sold more than 1.7 million copies.
