One of the most interesting aspects of 'American Gangster' is that it's a true family affair.
Frank Lucas brought his family up north from down south to put them to work and help build the family business. Oh, The American Way.
As expected, things don't turn out as he hoped.
Playing Denzel Washington's brethren -- consisting of Lucas brothers and cronies -- are (from l-r) Common, Ruben Santiago-Hudson, Warner Miller, Kyle Manzay and Chiwetel Ejiofor.

I remember Frank Lucas, if he's the right one, he was part of Nicky Barnes organization. Those guys ran Harlem drug traffic. If I remember correctly, a street war broke out with the Italian mafia and bodies started showing up everywhere. They ran their drug traffic out of a place on 8th and 116th street in that area. They visited Small paradise and Well's Chicken and Waffles often. This should be quite an interested movie.

Billy Springer U sound like a hater is it because U can't get on stage and from the top of your head come up with lyrics that will rip the crowd. Its ok with a name like yours We know your favorite rapper is more than likely slim shaddy. But anyway, I do agree with what my brotha was speaking on why is it that every movie america falls in love with it, it involves drugs and thugs, gansters and hoes. And with this being said I'm still going to see it.

I AM WAITING PATIENTLY FOR THE NOVEMBER RELEASE OF THIS MOVIE. IT IS GREAT TO SEE HOLLYWOOD PUT OUT A BLACK THEMED BLOCKBUSTER MOVIE OUT , REGARDLESS OF THE SUBJECT MATTER. THIS WILL PROVIDE MAJOR EXPOSURE FOR THE ACTORS IN THIS FILM.... WHAT PEOPLE HAVE TO REMEMBER IS THAT MOVIES ARE A FORM OF ESCAPISM. THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO ALLOW YOU A COUPLE OF HOURS BREAK FROM YOUR REALITY. FOR THE MOST PART IT IS SOMEONE'S INTERPRETATION OF A STORY. ENJOY THIS MOVIE WHEN IT COMES OUT.

Friend over half on the prison population are Afican American Males, for violent crimes. Later for the explortation, our people are worthy of more than the gangster image, in film, to me its unacceptable. I think Denzel Washington is a great actor, but look at the great ocean of work he did before the psycopath he protrayed in Training Day, now this SELL OUT! I mean what message is this sending our young people some of which are fastinated and in awe with the negative forces of the streets, hence embracing gang membership , selling dope, extorting others, murdering rivals; and ending up themselves untimely dead, or in some sick insitution for criminal."WAKE UP EVERBODY" Don't buy this buy into this kind of capitalism.
EMBRACE ENLIGHTENMENT PLEASE!
