If you thought Denzel Washington was something in 'Malcolm X' and 'Training Day,' wait until you see the double Academy Award winner in 'American Gangster.'
Directed by 'Gladiator' director Ridley Scott, the three-hour-long epic traces the story of Frank Lucas -- one of the New York City narcotics industry's most prominent figures during the 1970s. The film, which arrives in theaters on Nov. 2, is a cinematic tour-de-force.

Yes I agree Black urban movies are a perpetuation of the sterotypical inner city Black male. However, do not blame Mr. Washington or the studios. The image of African Americans is purely upon the shoulders of America and the status quo. Even in 2008 we still are all to have loss fathers, crack head mothers and grab our penis's as we talk.

I OBJECT TO THESE SO CALLED "RAPPERS" BEING CALLED ARTIST, ANY FOOL CAN JUMP AROUND ON A STAGE AND RAMBLE INCOHERENTLY. THAT IS A CLOWN NOT AN ARTIST! THOSE MORONS DON'T EVEN KNOW THEIR ABC'S AND ARE IGNORANT TO THE BONE.

I CAN'T WAIT. Denzel Washington is one of my FAVORITE ACTORS! AND considering the variety of roles he has played including Malcolm X, I am going to see THIS one just because it's movie entertainment and he is an established, superb, actor and that's his profession. And as far as the RAPPER comment, you don't have the right to lump all RAPPERS in the same category. I don't appreciate some rap lyrics. But your statement is unfair. They are not all the same and they are not all ignorant. Some have college degrees. Some are trying to branch out into various industries like the auto and clothing industries. Some are involved in worthy causes. There are uneducated performers in every type of music genre. Furthermore, who are you to judge with such obvious bias? Obviously, you are a true hater without a cause.

I respect the fact that the creators of the movie were able to get a Black themed project into the theaters. But a 3 hour long epic on this subject, to me is not worth going to see the movie.
