Snoop DoggAfter beating a murder rap in 1993, settling a sex assault suit in 2005 and being arrested in London in 2006, one could think that Snoop Dogg is a lucky man when is comes to his legal woes.

Carrying a baton in an airport, though, is the last thing you would think he would get the book thrown at him for.

And guess what: he didn't.

Yesterday, the platinum-selling hip-hop superstar (legally known as Calvin Broadus) showed up in a California court and pleaded guilty to one count of felony possession. (Last year he was found to be carrying a collapsible baton in his hand luggage at the airport. The baton is considered a deadly weapon.)

The Long Beach, California native was sentenced to 160 hours of community service and three years probation.

"We are very pleased with the outcome," his "legal counsel" Donald Etra told The Associated Press. "Snoop's goal is to make music, not make court appearances. He wants to get on with his life."

Under the deal, he reportedly cannot work with gangs, children or his nonprofit youth football league to fulfill his community service obligation "because the spirit of the community service offer is for him to do the work in a manner in which he isn't glorified in the eyes of children," Deputy Dist. Atty. Andre Manssourian told the court.

Snoop Dogg also agreed to donate $10,000 to the Orange County charity Right Trak, which helps troubled children, and to pay more than $1,000 in fines and court fees.

Good Doggy.
