RAP SHEET: The Game Walks Away From Court Charges with 'Discharge'

The GameThe Game fared well in Manhattan Criminal Court this week, receiving a slap on the wrist in connection with allegations that he impersonated a police officer last year while riding in a taxicab in New York City.

The Associated Press reports that Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Marc Whiten granted the Geffen Records rapper a conditional discharge, meaning that if he isn't arrested again within six months, the misdemeanor charge will be dismissed and the case file sealed.

The West coast thug rap icon, legally known as Jayceon Taylor, was arrested Nov. 16 after he allegedly told a cab driver that he was an undercover police officer and directed him to run several red lights. The 27-year-old lyricist was leaving an appearance on CBS' 'Late Show with David Letterman.'

Has times gotten that bad in the music industry where record labels don't provide car service for platinum-selling artists anymore -- especially when they make appearances on such major shows???

The cabbie drove about 13 blocks before he was pulled over; after realizing that they were being trailed by the po-po, he asked the passengers who was in the car, The Game recalled in court. He said he told the driver they were the "hip-hop police," and the driver decided on his own to run the red lights.

That's genius.

His attorney, Jeffrey Lichtman, said it was unlikely that a cabbie, seeing his client's tattoos, would have thought he was a cop. "I've never seen a cop with writing all over his face," said The Game, who had reportedly maintained his innocence and rejected offers of a plea deal that would have kept him out of jail in exchange for a guilty plea.
