PARIS HILTON: Ho' Tell Rwanda

Paris Hilton I've never been one to chase after trends (leave that to the newbies and the novices) but something came across my desk today that made me ask "Am I living in the real world?"

Paris Hilton is planning to head to Rwanda.

Maybe she saw some clips of Don Cheadle's Academy Award nominated turn in the film,'Hotel Rwanda.'

Or maybe she's getting it mixed up with the name of that other popular hotel chain.

Whatever it is, it's definitely grist for the mill.

According to E!, the over exposed hotel heiress/adult video star/ex-convict said that she is planning a fall trip to Rwanda as "part of her new, post-jail commitment to bring the spotlight to what she feels are important causes around the world."

"I'll be going in November, after I get back from filming my movie," Hilton said as she was boarding a plane to film her new role in the horror-musical flick 'Repo! The Genetic Opera.'

"There's so much need in that area, and I feel like if I go, it will bring more attention to what people can do to help," she continued.

Move over Angelina Jolie! There's a new ambassador in town.

The 'Simple Life' sexpot apparently was originally invited to visit Rwanda by Scott Lazerson, co-founder of Playing for Good, the organization aimed at helping high-end business and entertainment personalities become involved in a variety of charities benefiting children and families in need.

"I want to visit more countries where poverty and children's issues are a big concern," the scandal-ridden socialite said. "I know there's a lot of good I can do just by getting involved and bringing attention to these issues."

Well, there it goes: my first (and last) Paris Hilton piece.

It's official; I'll write about anything -- like the hack I once was called by a high ranking music executive (who kept trying to convince me it was "a good thing").
