When you address Juanita Bynum you better refer to her as "Doctor."
Or that's how she prefers to be referenced as.
A media alert announcing a last minute press conference for the Pentecostal Prophetess circulated earlier this afternoon saying that "Dr. Bynum will address the media regarding the current tax issues facing Juanita Bynum Ministries."
Held at the Atlanta gospel radio station WPZE-FM, the 48-year-old self-proclaimed "new face of domestic violence" wanted to face the music in regards to reports that implied her money was funny.
Earlier this week, Ware County Tax Commissioner Steve Barnard said this week the property owned by her ministry would be auctioned off next month if Bynum didn't pay more than $33,000 in property taxes.
Today, the Chicago native said that all those taxes have been paid, adding that she wants to turn the property into a spa for women and that her lawyers told her it could be considered a tax-exempt religious building.
"It didn't work out that way...So be it," the tell-it-like-it-is televangelist said.
What she didn't say was whether she planned to charge women to visit the spa, whether it would be an overnight facility or the size of the building where the spa would be housed.
The near 7000-square-foot house sits on more than 23 acres. Bynum's Waycross-based ministry bought the building Aug. 18, 2006, tax records indicate.
The county tax commissioner said he had received a check earlier for $33,904.15 from New Light Church World Outreach in Houston, the Associated Press reported. However, that the property technically remained set for auction on Nov. 6, he added.
"It's not paid off until the check clears the bank," he said, noting he expects to know next week whether the check clears.
In other related news, the tax drama isn't holding Bynum back from releasing her new music project.
Her publicist confirmed to The BV Newswire that 'Juanita Bynum: Unplugged' will be released in November via Flow Records. Recorded in "High Definition" at a small Atlanta church, the nearly 2 hour DVD is comprised of candid interviews, anointed, uncut performances from her latest hit opus 'A Piece of My Passion,' and her trademark dynamic ministering!
If this new project is anything like the I've witnessed recently on YouTube.com, it should be thoroughly enthralling.
The record label has pledged to donate a portion of the proceeds from each DVD sale to organizations fighting against Domestic Violence.
Shortly after being allegedly assaulted by her estranged husband Bishop Thomas Weeks, III, Bynum announced she will take a stand against mental and physical abuse by lending her support to a myriad of causes.
At presstime, an organization has not yet been named.

It's sad to see what lpress has commented several times. Here is a woman that jealousy has eaten to the core. Just reading her words, I can feel the hurt and distain for someone who no matter what, still goes on. Sounds like she needs a total transformation within herself. Please (lpress) tell me where do you go to learn the word or better yet, do you know the word or have a desire to know? When things go wrong in your life what do you do?

For someone other than GOD to judge this woman is crazy everyone has problems, and to not have problems you wouldn't be human; even other great minsters in GOD has problems as well. A woman of GOD should be able to look good and where diamond. May GOD continue to bless her.

I also agree with IPress, she never seem creditable to me. Her entire testimony about her failed relationship often spoke to the fact that God wasn't guiding her life then. She was going through some of this mess while being in service to the Lord. I always felt as if she infused her street knowledge with her knowledge of church structure and the word and made lost of money from her bad choices. If the saints would look at her she rose to fame, it was a combination of to things someone who had creditability endored her and she sold you her story. Everyone brought every word out of her mouth because she had been endorsed by someone very creditable. I believe she was illusory than and her recent incidents are no different. Woman like myself who were really victims of domestic violence should be move away from this woman who deems herself the new face of domestic violence. Violence amongst christians in leadership and laity persons has always existed and ignored for the most part. I remember a time when a woman was encouraged to stay with a man who beat her down and bring her to the brink of death. I am freed by the scripture that says in 1 Corinthians 7:15 God has called us to peace. You can't be in peace and get your butt whipped daily. Also brothers and sisters, last year the Lord share with me that mean of us are mislead amongst other things because the greater part of the body spend more hours reading the publications of man as oppose to reading the WORD of God (the bible) which is how he will speak to us daily. READ THE WORD OF GOD, MINISTER TO YOUR OWN HOMES, INSTEAD OF GOING TO THESE CONFERNCNES WHERE YOU COME BACK BROKE WITH A TEMPORARY JOY. STAY HOME TAKE CARE OF YOUR HUSBANDS AND YOUR CHILDREN SPEND THAT MONEY ON YOUR FAMILIES.INSTEAD OF CONFESSING YOUR LOVE FOR JUANITIA EXPRESS THAT LOVE TO YOUR CHILDREN, HUSBAND, OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS AND NEIGHBORS. GOD BLESS

Is she suppose to be a delivering some sort of valuable lesson? Stop by any corner bar; stand outside any drug program in NYC; eavesdrop on any beauty salon talk; or any teen phone conversation to hear the same jargon.
She sounds like a run-of-the-mill gutter mouth -NOTHING NEW-who seems proud of her unsavory ways, and doesn't have the common decency to NOT AIR her dirty laundry. Just trying to get ATTENTION! Too caught up in her own "isms" to realize that everyone is covering the eyes and ears of their children when she enters a room. I suggest a Playboy pictorial (true, she's probably too old); however, it seems you're never too pathetic for a reality tv show or the ever popular sex tape.
Seems it would be a step-up from her tarnishing the pulpit. Therapy would be a good start too.

. . .have you ever heard, you get back what you put out there. . .she made a mockery of domestic violence and will soon if not already cash in off of it. . .now, she is just getting back what she did by the tax collector making a mockery of her and her estate. . ."she need to go somewhere and sat down and have a good talk with God". . .the best is yet to come with this ghetto broad. . .the altered appearance is nothing. . .that chin makes her a candidate for a transexual. . .

True people of God, "..have you not heard?" Many will come. In these last days, God is getting His Bride ready. That means that judgement must come to the House of the Lord first. He is uncovering some things and still people are clinging to the famous instead of to His Word. This woman and also Paula White, need to sit themselves down. Right now, it's all about trying to keep those things they have gained in wordly wealth. And they are prostituting the church to do it! I pray for their souls right now. No title, and nothing else should ever come above a gifting from God! I question these people who suddenly come up with these titles of "Dr." My pastor, who is now in his early 40's, earned his PhD years ago and did so with many years of education. At that time he was one of a handful in the country who had done so. Suddenly, these people are popping up with 'Dr.' titles and you never knew they had Masters. People come on! As long as the Body of Christ supports this mess, and do not pray for wisdom and discernment of our own, we are accountable for ourselves. God has called these people to do a work, and the celebrety has taken them over. You cannot preach or teach what you have not learned. This woman was throwing rocks at her husband and cussing him out before the parking lot. There is no excuse for a man hitting a woman - preacher or not. But things are coming out about both of them that is not like God. THEY ALL NEED TO SIT DOWN AND REPENT AND WAIT ON GOD TO RESTORE THEM BEFORE THEY DO MORE DAMAGE TO GOD'S PEOPLE.

We, the church, need to hold these leaders to a biblical standard and stop getting caught up in their celebrity. We're no better than the world. We have made Gods out of men/women. Juanita Bynum is a brand as are several of the other religious leader/celebrities. They are making huge profits marketing hope to folks in the form of a "feeling" that ultimately produces no real change. The same people are being delivered at every service and receiving revelations that feel good but produce no real change. That is not the ministry of the gospel.
