Solange Knowles is ready to step out of her big sister's shadows.
For real, this time.
The young R&B ingénue, who released her debut album 'Solo Star' in 2003, is no longer on the same record label as her elder sibling Beyonce Knowles.
The BV Newswire has learned that Solange, as she is known, "is moving to Los Angeles and moving to a new record label."
The young, single mother – who has dabbled in songwriting and acting over the past few years – will reportedly record for the Geffen Records label, already home to music stars Mary J. Blige, Macy Gray, Fergie, Nelly Furtado and Keyshia Cole.
According to Chanel Green, a rep for Solange, the forthcoming project will be "a new joint venture relationship with Music World Music," which is helmed by the singers' father Mathew Knowles.
A Geffen spokesperson had no further information on the deal, when reached for comment.
As an actress, the 21-year-old Houston native, appeared in 'Johnson Family Vacation,' and also appeared on the TV show 'One on One,' as well as in 'The Brothers Garcia,' in a special guest role. She then starred in 'Bring It On: All or Nothing,' which was released on DVD last year.
As a songwriter, Solange has written and co-written songs for Destiny's Child , Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams, Trin-I-Tee 5:7 , and even her big sister.
She is even credited with penning 'Home for the Holidays' -- which was used for Wal-Mart's national holiday commercial campaign.
On a personal front, Solange reportedly married college football player Daniel Smith in February 2004. Six months later, the couple had their first son, Daniel Julez Smith. Last month, she confirmed in an interview they were now divorced.
She currently appears in an advertising campaign with Beyonce for their family-run fashion line House of Dereon.

Is it a big deal for her or for the press to sale papers? Unfortunately, she will always have others trying to make this an issue.

With her talent, she will make it on her own. Re: To China - it is not always about looks; but Solange is as attractive as her sis. Every entertainer has to prove their own worth and Solange is talented.

Solange is beautiful just like her big sister. I had a chance to see her at a record release party some years ago for Ramiyah and she seemed to be very humble and non-hollywood. It's funny that the article said she "dabbled" in songwriting. She has had some major placements as a songwriter. I doubt that should be considered "dabbling". I wish her the best.

I KNOW SHE CAN DO IT, IF SHE WORKS EXTREMELY HARD AND FINDS SOMEONE LIKE JZ. BEY WOULD BE LIKE EVERYOTHER SINGER TRYING HARD TO KEEP SONGS COMING , MAYBE JZ WILL HELP HER. AFTER ALL 1ST JZ THEN BEY.

Beyonce only got her break when they asked and paid my girl Mariah Carey to not sing for a year. This allowed the door to open for others. Beyonce does not have the voice. All she has is the body, which sells as sex in this country the bump and grind thing is what she is selling and appeals to those who cannot hear. Solange is her own person and will do fine. Solange listen to Diana Ross, " Don't do the Bump & Grind" not necessary!!!!! Have your own style and do it with style and grace!

Beyounce is not that good of a performer watching her experience concert on bet show a limited person with limited talent. I guess with her wearing short dresses and thigh showing scene makes her a hugh talent but she just average along with a lot of so-call stars.

Good luck Solange...I think you have talent but if it does not work out support your sister's career it is all in the family..be with her be her right hand girl. Beyonce is one in a million. Like Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin and Gladys Knight. Not to mention very pretty (who, lets be honest no one has top yet)she is one of a kind and she is a nice person and helpful to others with her money!
