To Vixen599 There was a study done by Thurgood Marshall some years ago before he won Brown vs. Board of Education, and in the study several black children were asked to draw themselves and pick a out a doll from a pool of Black dolls and white dolls. The children in the study left out parts of there body when drawing themselves and almost all picked white doll instead of Black ones. Observing the society as it is today; only missing white children's stories broadcast on the air, while the lives of missing children of color are not reported over the airwaves, added to the deplorable examples of Blacks paraded through the media I find your website just one more example of Justice Marshall's study.
As for the subject matter; why is Isaiah Washington still out of work while Imus is back on the air? Maybe Vixen599 can answer that?

where are the comments..are the blacks not reading the "black voices" blogs..look at other stories (not on black voices blog) & you see 300- 2500 comments..is AOL not reaching blacks , are they not interested or have they caught on to AOL's attempt to isolate "black voices" into a segregated part of AOL's business..i hope the latter is the case...aol needs to get real & get over this crap..& to get real

As an African-American artist, I do a workshop with African-American children called "In order to be yourself, you must see yourself". In this workshop the kids draw and write about themselves, I am never surprised that they start out from a Eurocentric form of what beauty is. Many of them color themselves far lighter than they are or leave the paper white. They want to bethe young men want to be Basketball and football players, followed by Rappers. The young womwn almost always choose to be singers.
It disturbs me that they clearly know that they want to be these things but have no idea how to navigate through the procdess of becoming. Worse is the spelling and sentence structure when they express these things in words. We have got to reclaim our children or I see a bleak future in 2008

I agree with Al Bostick's comments. Not only does 2008 not bode well, but the years to follow. Our young people and seemingly a lot of adults appear to be semi-literate. This is also true among whites, but we all know that it hurts us the most.
How many times do we see apostrophes placed for plurals such as "time's" instead of "times." This is basic English grammar that is learned in grade school. How often do we hear that " I am good" instead of I am doing well, OK or fine. Even more importantly, we don't vote as we should and don't seem to care or know about global, political or economic issues that impact our lives.

There is hope for Minister Bynum. Please continue to pray for her and her family in the coming new year of 2008. Those without sin ---cast the first stone.
Pray for all of our leaders and the future presidents of countries throuhout the globe...pray for the world and global warming. pray for your families and families of the world. Continue to give to charities and bless those less fortunate than yourselves. When you give The law of giving returns to you. Not always in money...but in health and other areas of your life. So that is why I say that there is hope for all of our music leaders, economic leaders, in the black community too. God bless you my fellow bloggers in the coming New Year 2008----Its Gonna be Great in 2008! RIVEROFLIFELISAJOY@WORDPRESS.COM

Juanita Bynum deserve the "HOE, GO SIT DOWN" award of the year. That award is usually reserved for strippers who claim to have been felt up & now want $100 million from a star athelete. She need to stop being a media whore & tend to her mental state. She is trying to use this situation to get a cross over audience like T.D. Jakes. I don't think she has ever been featured on 20/20 or any national news program till her husband put his foot in her azz. They may be in it together. I don't put NOTHING past church folks. Can we say MORE MONEY, MORE MONEY, MORE MONEY!
