Don't believe the hype – or the unscrupulous internet reports – about the hot new sex video starring Vivica A. Fox.A rep for the 'Kill Bill' actress denied the buzz that has been burning up the new media scene for the past few days.
"It is not true," Fox's tight-lipped attorney Lita Richardson told The BV Newswire late last week.
On Jan. 2, some legitimate media outlets picked up on an item by popular Atlanta-based blogger Sandra Rose, who wrote how an "apparently inebriated" Fox was allegedly caught on camera performing fellatio on an "man," who "surreptitiously taped" the act and promptly emailed the footage to his friends.
To add insult to injury, the story took on a life of its own with an additional additive about how the 41-year-old star of films such as 'Booty Call' and 'Two Can Play that Game' was forwarded the tape by friends and passed it onto the Atlanta police department.
Atlanta radio personality Porche Foxx (an alleged friend of the actress) found herself embroiled in the mix and talked about it at length on her of V103-FM radio show last week, revealing that the brass of the CBS Radio-owned station informed her that detectives were seeking her. "I learned the greatest lesson about the news when I became the news," Foxx said.
The brazen broadcaster then called a local policeman while live on the airwaves and explained her involvement in the whole fiasco, admitting, "I never said Vivica Fox made a sex tape. I said 'friend of mine' and 'it's been rumored.'"
"I didn't even mention Vivica Fox's name ... I'm not sure how this took off but it did."
On Jan. 4, the former 'Dancing with the Stars' castoff's alleged publicist Kim Tumey (the self proclaimed "Celebrity Broker") sent an email to Rose stating: "Currently, Ms. Fox is a client of mine and has no boyfriend as reported by many news outlets nor has Ms. Fox been involved in any sexual acts that would ruin her reputation. FYI: For the record I understand that Porsche [Foxx] wants to be the next Wendy Williams, so do what Wendy does and check your sources. So, just because someone claims to be friends doesn't make it true."
Wow. What a way to start a new year.
Jamie Foster Brown, the publisher and editor-in-chief of Sister 2 Sister magazine – which features Fox as its cover subject this month – seemed shocked by the news when The BV Newswire contacted her. "I haven't seen the tape [but] this is a damn shame."
Brown, a former BET producer turned magazine publishing magnate, is one of the progenitors of black celebrity gossip: the glossy monthly magazine celebrates its 20th anniversary this year of publishing.
"Privacy is dead," she admitted, speaking on a more broad level. "Today you have to feel that whatever you do bad or good in private you have to assume lots of people are watching ...The Rodney King beating signaled a new day. Cops beat folks in private before, and now anybody on any corner or bedroom can have a video going."
"Vivica's a grown woman," she added, saying that she doesn't believe the reports. "This is too scary. Hopefully this won't damage her business career."

Every week these loosers come up with a new fake story to make money. Isn't that a shame.

Fox is an aging Hollywood B actress that has a bo9dy of work that mostly appeals to black audiences. She may be well respected in the black community, but she is not mainstream and it is very sad that she will gain negative exposure with this scandal. She is too old to be thought of as a sexpot like Kim or Paris who surfaced in similar tapes nor can she benefit from this lucratively like with a playboy spread. I doubt this is the image she wants to portray this late in her career.
Lastly, she has been trying to revive her career with a stint on the dancing show and a failed high profile relationship with controversial rapper 50 cent. She also remains amid rumors of extensive plastic surgery. I like her as a person because she seems down to earth, but I question some of her decisions and believe she has some serious self esteem issues.

I agree that we have greater things to worry about than if Ms. Fox had sex on tape or not. One of the things we have to worry about is the spread of misinformation. The 'stats' that the first responder has given are thrown out there to make people believe that we are doomed. If those numbers were right then Obama would not have won in South Carolina, there wouldn't be so many black folk on the subway heading to work. The Chinese resturants in black neighborhoods would close down, Koreans wouldn't make millions selling everything from their own hair to nail polish to black folk, Jewelry stores wouldn't be able sell off all that garbage to young black kids (and adults), we wouldn't be influencing everyones from Japan to Ghana in the way we dress, sing, walk, talk and breathe. We spend billions of dollars every year and I seriously doubt that that is done by a dead baby in jail after he/she drop out of school. Have you every wondered why they only publish stats that preach our downfall and never give you examples of what is going on in other peoples communities? It is because they want you to believe that crap. If everything that they say about us in those stats were true black folk would be as rare a sighting as a unicorn or a UFO. Remember they also said that we had tails at one time.

First of all, I have not seen the tape, but if that is Vivica, it's no big deal. It's something that most women do anyway, truth be told. She just had the misfortune of having it put out there. So to those who it applies...come off the high horse with the judgement. Secondly, I do not believe that it is racial. A sex tape always gets the media moving, regardless of race and most of the time regardless of status..case in point-- Screech (Saved by the bell). Third, people act like they are sooo superior because they "have better things to do" than to read about celebrities. Yet, here they are. I agree, that this is the wrong place for your preaching. This is ENTERTAINMENT. And you are no better than the rest of us. Furthermore, if you feel you are so much better, do yourself a favor and don't visit the websites. Problem solved. And I loved 'Two Can Play that Game, by the way. :-)

Dude. If you people, including the media cannot find better or more pertinent news to cover, then you probably need to make a sex flick of your own. What? are you afraid that people will talk? Get some business... or some head!
