Janet Jackson is one of the chosen few to be wholly accepted by the gay community.
Well, at least for this year.
The pop music icon/actress will receive a special award from GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) during their 19th Annual GLAAD Media Awards, which will be given out this spring.
The 'That's the Way Love Goes' chanteuse is one of two singers to be honored for their work this past year. The other is Rufus Wainwright.
Each year GLAAD -- an organization that monitors how gays and lesbians are depicted in the media – honors networks, television shows and celebrities during four ceremonies to be held in Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and southern Florida. (Dates and venues are: March 17 at the Marriott Marquis in New York, April 12 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Florida, April 26 at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles and May 10 at the San Francisco Marriott in San Francisco.) Jackson, who releases her new album 'Discipline' on Feb. 26, is expected to be honored at the Los Angeles event.
"This year's extraordinary nominees exemplify the important strides we have made as a community toward creating a truly inclusive society," GLAAD President Neil Giuliano said in a statement.
Among networks, ABC led nominees with nine nods; among the shows up for honors are 'Ugly Betty' and 'Desperate Housewives.'
The nominees were announced at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah on Jan. 20.

For the Love of GOD, If you people would stop with the crabs in the barrel mentality we all could get along. If you don't care for Janet then leave her alone and let her be, if you love her show her some love but stop all the hate, envy, and jealousy. Be about something positive. Flip the script if you will and think if that were you how would you like it. For the record, Janet is all that. Her music and good looks have taken her far stop trying to pull her back down into the barrel and maybe she might be the one to help pull you out.

This woman is being honored for being good to people, and the horrible comments people are saying about her (and gay people for that matter) is disgusting. Black people--is this the best we can do?

I am not a Janet hater. I have been really pulling for a Janet comeback. Unfortunately Janet receives more press about how good she look & not the MUSIC! I don't buy cd's cause the artist look good on the cover. Back in the 90's, Janet put out some real mature, laid back music such as "That's the way love goes, Anytime, Any Place, I get lonely & that banging jam she did with Q-Tip off the Velvet Rope cd. Now that she is over 40yrs old, whe is putting out this Euro-trash, dance music that you can't even understand the lyrics. It didn't work for the last 2 CD's & she turns right back around and do it for the upcoming cd. Her new single sound just like the song she did with that stank female rapper Khia (my, neck, my back) on the last cd. It sound like the only thing she did was change the lyrics. I just don't get it. I have every Janet cd up till "The Velvet Rope". I even have the 2 she did before Control.

Well...well, well...what can I say. Accept IT, Not them. I'd take the award then crack open the great Book to LEviticus ch 18, and ROmans chapter 1, and remind them of Sodom and Gomorrah because I love them too and want none of their souls to be lost. They are still as blind today as Lot's angel made them in the book of Genesis 19:4,5...when they continued to beat down the door while just made blind for not leaving Lot's house, they insisted on Lot letting them get to the two (handsome) angels so they could "Know Them". To this day the 'homosimpletons' insist if you lie, cheat, or steal when you fill out a form or taxes or sign your name to something, if you call in sick to take advantage of a sale at a discount outlet or want to save your vacation time and call in sick when your child has a high fever etc. they claim you as a bigger sinner than them. They have equated their sin to that of an occasional white lie. Just like homose xuals have these days equated sex with that of a kiss. Soon it won't matter the sex, age, or the act, as long as the two enjoy it, it will be considered like it's just a kiss. Why...people enjoy Crack Cocaine everyday, they enjoy Heroin, and addictive street and Rx drugs daily, some enjoy Russian Roulet, enjoy murdering little, innocent animals for sport til they are desensitized and the first angry event that takes place, satan enters them and causes them to Kill a human being and without remorse, without control, and many of them repeat it because it's actually a sadistic thrill to them. Woe unto us all, woe unto this nation, yea even this whole world, as we cannot discern good from evil anymore. A world of reprobates. Sorry Janet..I cannot offer congratulations this time.

Who cares if She can Sing? She is just about the most beautiful Woman in the World. A world filled with Gorgeous Black Women.
No white Woman can come close to being as sexy and strong as Janet, Mary Blige, et al.

Leave it to the Black Lesbians who run the Blackvoices website to post still another GAY Black Lesbian story next to the Eddie Murphy and Obama bashing stories and every other Black man bashing story. I wish somebody would speak out about how Black Lesbians and White Supremacists have taken over this site. If Janet wants to celebrate her being gay that's fine but we who value the Black Race and Culture have every right to speak against it. These are the same Black Lesbians who are supporting Hillary over Obama.
