Last year, a scantily clad would-be-video vixen shook up the viral video scene with a satirical profession of her adoration for Senator Barack Obama.
On the eve of the big city primaries, a treasure trove of real celebrities lent their likenesses to an approved music video clip, which has garnered millions of hits just days after appearing on the web.
'Yes We Can,' the brainchild of Black Eyed Peas front-man Will.I.Am and director Jesse Dylan, is a clip gathering nearly 40 celebrities – including John Legend, Herbie Hancock, Hill Harper, Kate Walsh, Tracee Ellis Ross, Tatyana Ali, Aisha Tyler, Common, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Nick Cannon, Nicole Scherzinger, Fonzworth Bentley, and the luscious lipped Scarlett Johansson – speaking, singing and playing along to the historic speech that Obama recited during his history making Jan.8 New Hampshire primary nigh event.
"I was never really big on politics ... and actually, I'm still not big on politics," Will.I.Am wrote on the blog promoting the song. "But the outcome of the last two elections has saddened me ... on how unfair, backwards, upside down, unbalanced, untruthful, corrupt and just simply, how wrong the world and politics are. ... So this year I wanted to get involved and do all I could, early."Citing the historic night in New Hampshire as his motivation, the Los Angeles native (real name: William James Adams, Jr.) said he felt "captivated" and "inspired."
"I reflected on my life and the blessings I have and the people who fought for me to have these rights and blessings. And I'm not talking about a 'black thing,' I'm talking about a 'human thing.' Me as a 'person,' an American."
"I hope this song will make you feel love and think and be inspired just like the speech inspired me," he concluded.

I am not knocking any of the comments. However, I am a black woman and will vote for Senator Clinton. What disturbs me is many blacks that I have spoken to are mean when they find out that another black is supporting Mrs. Clinton. As stated before, just because I am black, I don't have to support a black candidate. For example, I live in the state of Maryland but I will not cast my vote for Congressman Al Wynn who is a black man, but Donna Edwards running against him who is black woman, and I will vote for her. Why, because Mr. Wynn has not supported the communities he serves. His staff don't return phone calls to say the least. I was raised in Chicago, Illinois and believe I know more about the city than Mr. Obama. On many occasions I am told by my family that he has not supported the black community, and all my relatives still live in Chicago. Remember, this is America, the greatest country in the world and it is supposed to be deomcratic where you can vote for whomever you choose. My sister lives in California and she supports Mrs. Clinton, however, she recently told me that some blacks act as if she was selling out her race. To be mean to another black individual just because they are not voting for Obama is crazy. Whatever happen to respect for each other feelings and values? And let's face it, no one really knows who will vote for whom come election time behind the curtain. My comment is stop being mean to each other and help spread the word.

I love this video, it is wonderful! To see the diversity of individuals coming together, I think really represents today's culture. Really cool and touching!
On another note I want to inform you all of something:
Beware! Do you all notice how large conglomerates are taking over or joining with other or smaller organizations? AOLBLACKVOICES, VIACOM-BET? What does this mean? This means that the view point and content can now be regulated by the larger entity. We can thank Bill Clinton for this, he signed legislation that gave birth to the big take over era (do your research).
When Hillary Clinton made her calculated ugly statement on FOXNEWS about MLK, here on AOLBLACKVOICES, an article “Debunking a Dream” was written, it is found under “Black Spin.” About 75 – 80 percent of the blogged comments were not in her favor. Right before the New Hampshire primary that article was not accessible. For over 2 weeks now, I have tried to access that article and it is blocked, I receive a message “Internet Explorer can not open the internet site . . . Operation Aborted,” and my internet site is closed and shut down. All the other articles under the “Black Spin” are accessible except that one, NO LIE!
Try it, go to “Black Spin,” scroll down to the article “Debunking a Dream” and you will see that it is blocked! I contacted AOL tech support, and they said they would send in a problem report, about 2& 1/2 weeks ago and it is still not accessible. What does that mean? Perhaps the powers that be or the money force behind this site, has some allegiance to Hillary or she has some kind of power over Big Business – AOL???

Danielle at 11:57 am on Feb 11th 2008- somewhere along the way you missed something. I want to first appologize for all the other men, (Black Men) that have offended you or have hurt you, lied to you and disappointed you. Somewhere along your way you and possibly your Sister obtained the incorrect message. Not to offend you in anyway but to encourage you that it is ok and that all Men are not the same. Just as all people are not the same. I have met Obama and he is a different kind of Man just as I am. As we grow individually and because we are Black (and this holds true for any race of people) It no mistake, but I, we happen to be Black)we must embrace the good and the best from one another. The media and others will try to divide and seperate and control us physically and mentally and even spiritually. You are obligated to look at Obama and offer your support. Why? because his rise to the position he is in at this moment and time is no accident. He could not have orcastrated it on his own. 100 of the best of us could not have gotten together to make a plan for it to have happened. And the fact that he is a part of you wheather you choose to believe it or not, you must embrace him. And further we must support him and help to hold him once he is elected. It's not about Obama the Black Man its about Obama the man who happens to be Black. So many whites and others whom have never even sat down at a table to have a meal with a Black man or Black woman for that matter have embraced him and understand. Why can't you? Forgive what occured in your past! Remove the hate from inside your heart. I don't know you but I know it is holding you Back. This is a Historical Moment in the WORLD and your missing it. Not because Obama is Black but because Obama happens to be Black. There are so many tarnished images of Blacks. Like the ones that are causing you to be closed minded to Obama. The media has certainly done their homework on him and he comes out clean. As a Black woman he would be the type of man you would want your son to emulate. Now he is there and your blinking. Open your eyes and see the gift that is there. What a stepping stool for the next generations to come. The President of the United States of America a Black Man a Good Honest, Hard Working, raising his family, handling the worlds business Black man. I don't know the neighborhood that you live in but, I am sure you can travel less than 2 mile from home and see a couple of Black Boys that some how lost their BELT. Visit the nearest prison and see who the guests are. Ask your Sister to tell you the truth why she is not trusting Obama. The are others that I admit that have slipped up, messed up and have fell off. But now you have one someone to help make up the differnce. To have an opportunity to set an example.
You need Obama to be President (The Leader of The Free World) More than a lot of us. Because in your minds eye you need a change. Someone who can help you to take a deep breath again. Someone whom you can listen to and truly believe that they are telling you the truth. Someone who will listen to you (through the proper channels) and when you walk away you will believe that they heard you. Someone who will not betray that faith the you put into them despite how many times it has happened in the past. Someone who serves you and will not quit because of a difference of opinion or because the going gets hard. That someone can be Obama. That someone right now is Obama! Do the Right thing Danielle and all other Black, White, Hispanic, Jewish, Muslem, Republicans, Democrats, Independants, embrace the change embrace my friend Barrack Obama. Not just because of his resume but because he happens to be Black with a Resume also... www. financially and politically yours .com

This comment is for Pay Attention #39. I ran into the same problelm too. There were so many comments that were not in favor of her and I mean there were a lot of comments. I even made comments on there. I remember, there was a lot of racial slurs, hatred, and innapropriate comments on there. I couldn't believe? I thought, that had something to do with it?

I agree with the other commentaries, the video is beautiful and I was moved emotionally. There were a couple of things missing. I didn’t really see the elderly represented in the video and nationalities such as Mexicans, Orientals, etc.. The video would be so much more powerful if these elements are added. Good work to the creator, you are highly talented
