Whoever thought Flavor Flav was not a likely to become a TV star should think again. The BV Newswire has learned that the former Public Enemy hype-man turned reality TV sensation is set to make his sitcom acting debut in the new half-hour series 'Under One Roof.'
Flavor Flav (real name: William Jonathan Drayton, Jr.) plays Calvester Hill, an ex-convict that moves in with his wealthy, conservative brother, Walter (played by Kelly Perine).
Calvester subsequently turns the Hill family's life upside down, parading his old prison cronies through the house; teaching his nephew Walter Jr. to be a gangsta rapper; and butting heads with Walter's snooty wife, Ashley.
The MyNetworkTV network is banking on the show, directed by Brian Roberts and written by Danielle Quarles and Gelila Asres, and has ordered 13 episodes of it.
According to network spokesperson, 'Under One Roof' is scheduled to debut this spring."I am real excited," Flavor Flav said about the series. "I want to thank MyNetworkTV for believing in your boy because we are about to blow this out of the water. I am about to take MyNetworkTV and make it MY network."
Okay.
My Network President called the series "a classic fish out of water story" and said he was "thrilled: to be working with the rap pioneer.
Produced by C To The B Productions and Qtopia Entertainment, the show is currently in production in Toronto.
For those who don't know, MyNetworkTV is a primetime general entertainment broadcast television network, reaching over 97% of the country. Targeted to Adults 18-49, MyNetworkTV provides its affiliates 12 hours of diverse programming Monday through Saturday.
Since launching in September 2006 -- on many former UPN channels -- MyNetwork has aired a reality show on called 'Decision House,' starring Judge Lynn Toler ('Divorce Court') and daily nightime dramas 'Saints & Sinners' (starring Robin Givens) and 'Wicked Wicked Ways' (featuring Kim Porter).
'Under One Roof' is the network's very first sitcom.

When Rich Blacks get to be funny, call me? Comedy is a formula where opposites attract. The friction between two stereotypes clash and everybody watches the conflict. As each side wins, there is laughter. As the situation is resolved, there is love. Flavo Flav gets love. He was the first Black to have someone spit in the face of someone else. Imagine the conflict and tension as New York wanted to whip that White girl's behind. How was the conflict resolved? New York got a show. Until the formula changes don't hate the Playa, hate the game. Flava is getting paid. I'm great at conflict and I'm in Vegas Flava. I'd join your "Thug Crew" in a minute. It's only acting! Lighten up your educated minds! Obama hasn't won anything yet! We all haven't started "Moving On Up!"

This is a ghetto rip off of the Fresh Prince all over again. this man is a clown and this is what the world wants to think of black men. This crap like Flavor of Love is an insult to all actors out there. Mean spirited sistahs like Omarosa, and pimp niggas like Flav. They need to be slapped. It is a sad day for black folks. A very sad day. I ask everyone to call this production company and make your dislike known. I am sure though the producers are black and a bunch of jewish 22 year olds.

Please join the National association of black and Hispanic law officer's and tell your Congressman and Senator you want money from homeland security allocated to clean the “Criminal element” out of the inner cities. Call now, before your mother is “Beaten to death” for a “Couple of dollars”,[NEW YORK] and your wife and teenage daughter are repeatedly “Gang Raped” and “Sodomized” while you are forced to watch, [Oakland] Or your daughter and her boyfriend are raped, sodomized, murdered, and dismembered, [ Knoxville] or your son is “Murdered”, just because some “Under privileged” Young gentleman thought he looked at him the “Wrong way”, [DETROIT] Actual cases.
