Whoever thought Flavor Flav was not a likely to become a TV star should think again. The BV Newswire has learned that the former Public Enemy hype-man turned reality TV sensation is set to make his sitcom acting debut in the new half-hour series 'Under One Roof.'
Flavor Flav (real name: William Jonathan Drayton, Jr.) plays Calvester Hill, an ex-convict that moves in with his wealthy, conservative brother, Walter (played by Kelly Perine).
Calvester subsequently turns the Hill family's life upside down, parading his old prison cronies through the house; teaching his nephew Walter Jr. to be a gangsta rapper; and butting heads with Walter's snooty wife, Ashley.
The MyNetworkTV network is banking on the show, directed by Brian Roberts and written by Danielle Quarles and Gelila Asres, and has ordered 13 episodes of it.
According to network spokesperson, 'Under One Roof' is scheduled to debut this spring."I am real excited," Flavor Flav said about the series. "I want to thank MyNetworkTV for believing in your boy because we are about to blow this out of the water. I am about to take MyNetworkTV and make it MY network."
Okay.
My Network President called the series "a classic fish out of water story" and said he was "thrilled: to be working with the rap pioneer.
Produced by C To The B Productions and Qtopia Entertainment, the show is currently in production in Toronto.
For those who don't know, MyNetworkTV is a primetime general entertainment broadcast television network, reaching over 97% of the country. Targeted to Adults 18-49, MyNetworkTV provides its affiliates 12 hours of diverse programming Monday through Saturday.
Since launching in September 2006 -- on many former UPN channels -- MyNetwork has aired a reality show on called 'Decision House,' starring Judge Lynn Toler ('Divorce Court') and daily nightime dramas 'Saints & Sinners' (starring Robin Givens) and 'Wicked Wicked Ways' (featuring Kim Porter).
'Under One Roof' is the network's very first sitcom.

Stop hating cause Flav has a job. I don't blame him for riding this as long as he can. Who wouldn't? No ones putting a gun to your head and telling you to watch. If you don't want to see the Buffoonery, change the channel. It was OK for Will Smith to dance around and act-a-fool. Why can't Flav?

P Jalst, Will Smith is in a TOTALLY diferent catergory than Flav. Will Smith is making blockbuster movies, taking care of his family, taking care of his old neighborhood. Flav-well this cat's got children all over the place, got a show teaching his children that having many dumb groupies will do ANYTHING to get on tv (spit in other people's face, slapping, cat fighting and other dumb SHIT). I CAN believe that you folks like this show but what I can't understand is WHY? And you want to know why kids only look to Hip Hop and basketball to survive.

They take "Girlfriends" off the air, but they can put Flavor Flav ON!? Are you kidding me? This just further solidifies my theory that "White Hollywood" doesn't want to see successful Blacks on TV. All the sitcoms that show Blacks in a positive light are GONE!
1. Girlfriends- 4 Black independent women, who are well educated, homeowners and and funny. CANCELED!!!
2. My Wife and Kids- Black Family, with two working parents. The husband is a self-made entrepreneur and the wife is a stock broker and an adult college student. CANCELED!!!
3. Bernie Mac Show- An Entertainer who takes his nieces and nephew from rags to riches. His wife, a VP in Corporate America. CANCELED!!!
I could go on, but you get the drift. Hollywood doesn't want to concentrate on positive BLACK premises, they want to talk about the crackheads and ex-cons that perpetuates their stereotypes of African Americans.
Thanks Flavor Flav for being that ignorant black man with low self-esteem that sets us back 100 years.

To be in Hollywood, you have to be selective. To be Black and in Hollywood, you have to have standards. Obviously, this is another," I need the money" situation. In his case, that's not a worthy excuse. With 1 season of Surreal Life and another w/Strange Love and let's not forget the 3 seasons of the train wreck that is Flavor of Love, he should have been smart w/ his money.
He should have saves and invested his new money for the long term. Flavor Flav, Don't embarrass African Americans trying to make an honest and positive roll model for our children and young adults, because you couldn't' save your money!

I wish him luck with the new show. I for one will certainly watch. It will be refreshing to watch him without all the drama that is Flavor of Love. I just hope he's funny and can pull it off
