"I don't think she should have won. I think it sends a bad message to our young people who are trying to get into this business, the ones who are trying to do it right and really trying to keep themselves together ... We have to stop rewarding bad behavior. I'm sorry. I think the girl is talented, gifted, but it's not right for her to be able to have her cake and eat it too. She needs to get herself together."
-- Eight time Grammy Award winning diva Natalie Cole on Amy Winehouse's sweep of the 50th Annual Grammy Awards. (People)

Wow! I think that Amy should be rewarded for her talents and not what is going on in her personal life. I am proud that Miss Cole has gotten her life together. But I remember a time when her personal life was in shambles with drugs and alcohol.

Amy Winehouse hasn't done anything to hurt anybody but herself. Rehab is a new anthem song raging against the machine that controls access to success and creativity in Hollywood. When a person submits to the will of the powers that be, they go to "Rehab." Once they are out of "Rehab", they are embraced by a machine that controls access to all future success. It's a cult or a religion that believes God loves them more and we are just "SPs." Do they think we are "Stupid People?" Hail Baby! Hollywood is guilty of discrimination on the basis of religion if equal opportunity is denied based on who one associates with to gain access. The process begins with the submission of your independent will marked by going to "Rehab!" I don't want to go to "Rehab" to be a success. God's gift to us all is the ability to be forgiven. We all make mistakes. All creative gifts come through Him. There is a price for success. Limited opportunity drives some people into doing drugs. It's hard to let yourself be exploited to reach success. It's like swimming in a pool full of leaches and "Rehab" burns them off. Obviously, you can tell that I don't like agents or leaches. Scientologists are cool, but keep it in the Church.

I have to say that I was shocked that Natalie Cole would say what she said. Wasn't she dealing with substance abuse while she was in her prime? Who is she to judge someone else? Amy Winehouse has a good CD if you are looking for something different. No matter what is going on in her life, she still worked hard to put out a good project. THAT SHOULD BE REWARDED!!! I just hope that she realizes how talented she is and I hope that she starts to see her self-worth. I would thing that Natalie would reach out to her, see that she was also a substance abuser!!!

I think Ms. Cole should shut her trap and mind her own business!!! She has obviously not HEARD "Back to Black".
It would have been a travesty not to recognize Amy for that album because it is BRILLIANT!!!! Absolutely BRILLIANT!!! I still get chills listening to it. Unlike Britney Spears and some of the other pop-tarts, Amy has UNDENIABLE, GOD-GIVEN, TALENT!!!!
It is obvious in her music that she is suffering. In a way, that's what makes "Back to Black" so special.
And I wish her all the best in her recovery, because she is someone I hope to listen to for years to come..

I don't always agree with the performers who win Grammys. For example I love Ledisi. Unfortunately she is not mainstream enough and by popular demand Amy Winehouse won the best new artist I think. I think she is a great talent and I do like some songs on her cd. I do feel bad for her personal life being as tramatic as it is right now. A talented woman. I just like seeing a variety of entertainers on the Grammys and I like to see that same variety of winners. I think there is a little too much talent out there for 1 person to win several awards...

p.s.
No disrespect to Natalie, but I remember back in the day when people were calling her COCAINE BRAIN. She has some nerve passing judgement on anyone else! Pot, meet kettle. LOL!!!

I agree with Miss Natalie Cole...We crucify the athletes who do things wrong, and we crucify other people who do things wrong, why not Amy. I don't think that she should have won any Grammies, no matter how talented she is. We are sending a wrong message to our children and to others that it is ok to be morally bankrupt. Is that what we have become a people that is morally bankrupt? I say let her get herself together and then win. Yes, and Natalie did have an addiction problem, and she got herself together and came back stronger!

I wonder how many of Ms.Coles Grammys she won while still hooked on drugs. She has a never to pass judgement. Like they say the pot calling the kettle black. Amy Whinehouse if fabolous, I only wanted to see her performance on the Grammy's no one else. She deserved all the awards she has received thus far. She had one of the Best Albums out last year. I pray she stays clean she has a big career ahead.

I actually agree with Ms. Cole. She said bad behaviour should not be rewarded. She made a general statement. Ok so she made her mistakes too and perhaps she learned from them that is why she can give advice now. If Ms. Winehouse's blatant use of drugs is ok why didn't the US give her a visa. They did not because she broke the law. FULL STOP! Up and coming talent will think its ok to abuse drugs e.t.c because they are still going to win Grammy's, Oscars and other awards without any type of consequence. That is why so many stars are in rehab or even worse dead because substance abuse has become almost as glamouras as the professions they are in.
