"Racism doesn't exist in the same intensity as it did before. Whether it's Michael Vick or even Barry Bonds, as African-Americans we all know that if we slip up, they're going to come gunning for us."
-- Hip-hop mogul and actor and actor Sean "Diddy" Combs commenting on racism. (USA Today)

What in the world is Puffy talking about! Racism is STILL intense and DOES exist. The only difference is that the white hoods are replaced by suits. Opportunities for US do exist and instead of just being outright brutalized physically in the street, we are being brutalized systematically; credit scores, income, education disparities etc.. We still must work TWICE as hard to get half of what THEY have!!!

I agree with "Diddy",much has changed since the first production of "A Raisin In the Sun". Mostly due to the fact that the laws have changed. A large number of our fellow Americans (white) still feel the same way as in the 60's. But we have to keep on struggling. After all it hasn't been too long ago that we as a people could not even express ourselves in a public forum such as this without persecution.

Actually I can't totally agree with Mr. Sean Combs [P. Diddy's]point of view about racism in our culture today. True society isn't as bold or open about it? Racism is now diguised under the premise of becoming the political & correct. Unfortunately the subtleness of racism still excessively so exists and is; just as harmful, treacherous, and detrimental to our society as it's ever been. I do however understand Mr. Combs view from his stand point with the opportunities he's been blessed to take advantage of because of what our ancestors struggled to achieve in a society where we've been considered imported, barbaric, indentured servants. Brutally trained to become submissive, domesticated, individuals who evolved to a secondary place in a colonized so call civilized world as it's second class citizens. Thankfully to our creator we've survived, thrived, sustained, maintained, excelled, and achieved greatness through all trials, hardships, and struggles to become a true genius of peoples. Love, forgiveness, faith, hope, tenacity, talent, and all our God given gifts have become our attributes that help to define us. The ABC television production of Loraine Hansberry's A Rasin In The Sun? Truthfully innovative in interpetation, excellent production, skilled & brilliantly talented actors! Mr. Combs you indeed came into your manhood with this great body of work! I'm certain you're aware that you have now raised the standard for yourself to remain committed to excellence and to continue to raise the bar of earnest greater expectations of all you choose to do. Kudos!

Tell Sean the next time he wants to 'remix' a classic Black American film, DON'T. The overall lack of intensity in his 'performance' was appaling. Don't get me wrong I am not holding him to the standard set by the original cast, even I know that that would be impossible. But PLEASE have some of your soul in your performance.

Thank you, Amaria. It is!! He says its not as bad but we don't have anyroom for mistakes or we will be "lynched." Sean, your money and status may cloud your eyes on racism, especially when you have white women or for that matter women of all races throwing themselves at you only because of your money and status. If you were Sean Combs who lived on any Martin Luther King street or Avenue in any ghetto USA you will see that racism is alive and thriving.

Racism is very much alive and well. In Diddy world racism would not affect him like it would the average joe. because in his circle they don't see color they see money.
