The gavel seems to be coming down hard on rappers – well at least some of them.Today, Grammy Award nominated rapstress Remy Ma was convicted for shooting a woman outside of a trendy Manhattan pizza eatery last summer.
According to published reports, Remy Ma (real name: Reminisce Smith) was led out of a Manhattan courtroom, weeping and in handcuffs.
The 26-year old former Terror Squad front-woman could face up to 25 years in prison following her conviction in state Supreme Court for assault, weapon possession and attempted coercion.
The Associated Press reports that the brazen Bronx native "quietly wiped away tears as the verdict was read, then wailed loudly and sobbed openly after she was outside the courtroom."
Many of her supporters also reportedly cried.
Justice Rena Uviller ordered Remy Ma jailed without bail while awaiting her April 23 sentencing.
Though the 'Lean Back' diva didn't beat the main charges, she was acquitted of witness tampering and gang assault -- charges related to a Bronx nightclub altercation with the boyfriend of a witness who ultimately testified against her.
This whole messy legal ordeal stemmed from the July 14, 2007 shooting of Makeda Barnes Joseph, whom Remy shot in her car after demanding that she dump her purse.
The defense had conceded that the entertainer fired a shot toward a friend she suspected of stealing $3,000, but said it was an accident.
I know street people and street mentality but is your freedom worth $3,000?

I THINK PEOPLE LIKE REMY MA KNOWS THAT IF THEY DO THE CRIME AN KNOW THAT THEY ARE THE ONES THAT REAL DID IT THEN THEY DESERVE TO DO THE TIME FOR IT CAUSE THE WAY I SEE IT IS SHE SHOT SOMEONE'S SISTER OR MAYBE EVEN SOMEONE'S MOTHER WHO KNOWS ALL I KNOW AN SHE KNOW'S IS THAT IT WAS WRONG AND SHE SOULD HAVE THOUGHT ABOUT THE SITUATION BEFORE TRYING TO PROVE SOMETHING TO HER FRIENDS I WOULD NEVER HAVE DONE SOMEONE LIKE THAT JUST TO PROVE TO SOMEONE ELSE THAT I'M BAD OR COOL OR WHATEVER THE CASE I THINK REMY MA KNEW WHAT SHE WAS DOING BEFORE SHE EVEN DECIDED TO DO IT AND SHE SHOULD SERIOUSLY PAY FOR HER CRIME

Good they need to lock her ugly ass up.One less rapping a-hole on the streets infusing our youths minds with sheer ignorance, and stupidity.Why this form of negative " music" is allowed to continue is beyond me.We don't have to worry about the white man bringing us down, we are allowing these filthy, violent prone,gangsters to influence the minds of our young people who are already ignorant of the things that really matter in life.We are on a path to self destruction with this crap that passes for music and these thugs and thugettes with their nasty mouths and ghetto attitudes.lock them all up, educate your kids to listening to real music, jazz, classical,anything that will educate and uplift them.This rap garbage does nothing to educate, it only humiliates.

Well, it goes to show that some rappers don't make as much money as the public would think, to almost kill someone over 3,000 dollars. Whats that? income tax money.Be for real. Grow up and you have kids out here that drop out of school to persue this dream

STOP BLAMING RAP MUSIC FOR PEOPLE GOING TO PRISON! IT IS PEOPLE WHO MAKE THESE DECISIONS REGARDLESS OF THEIR BACKGROUND. AN ACTOR, ROCK STAR, BUSINESSMAN, THEY ALL CAN GO 2 PRISON. REALIZE THAT BEFORE YOU MAKE IGNORANT COMMENTS.
