In all the years, I've enjoyed and loved the wisdom shared by this Queen, this is the first stupid statement I've ever heard her utter. Time is not for "White People." It's our time. Am I right or wrong? Call Tyrone and ask him.
Love you Badu, keep it coming. I can relate to you, it seems as if when I'm on time I'm treated as if I were late, just sit there, and sit there... when I'm late I get done with what I had to do as if I got there early or on time.
Well, speaking as someone of color who's always on time, it's about respect. Keeping people waiting just because you can, is just plain ol ignorant. People who do this appear to wallow in self importance.
Eryka needs to tell my black boss that time is for white people. If we aren't to work ten minutes early he considers us late. The only time we are allowed to be late is if we leave work late!
I agree with those who said being late is disrespectful. Eryka you're the super awesome, and I'd wait for you. But all you other fools better not make me wait. Better not.
With all due respect to Ms. Badu, time is about patience and urgency. What group of people have been more patient than Blacks. White people have patience too, but they have been running everything practically. The time has come for things to change. It's not a Black and White Thang. That will just make the "Good White People" hesitate.
I can relate to being tardy most of the time. It is not a matter of disrespect for people waiting; it is about the fact that I like to enjoy life. If I am trying to rush around all of the time to be "on time" for others, I would not be able to "stop and smell the roses". It is fair to say that there are some instances in which being on time is only right, but not always. I don't think it is a racial thang, it is a personal lifestyle choice thang. BTW, afros are still the S**T and I proudly wear mine!

Chronic lateness is disrespectful and arrogant.
