On June 20, neo-soul diva Jill Scott celebrated her Carnegie Hall debut with a special announcement of her new engagement to young drummer Lil' Jon Roberts. While she began to sing a tear-filled intro to her signature song 'He Loves Me (Lyzel In E Flat),' the blond-striped coiffed musician emerged with a bouquet of yellow roses and kissed the double-Grammy Award winner after whispering sweet sentiments in her left ear.
The sold-out crowd, who came to partake in one of the biggest highlights of "The 2008 JVC Jazz Festival," cheered its approval – some standing at their feet.
Scott, who was divorced from her longtime lover Lyzel Williams last year, beamed as she revealed the secret news to the rapturous audience.
Not much is publicly known about Roberts, who is believed to be from Scott's Philadelphia hometown.
Though a rep for the singer declined comment about the couple, Blackvoices.com can report that Roberts was with Scott on (and offstage) during her performance at "The 2008 Air Jamaica Jazz & Blues Festival" in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
"I'd get married because I want to share all of this with someone," Scott, 36, shared with Blackvoices.com, while promoting her big screen acting debut in 'Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married?' last fall.
"I just mean who I am and the blessings that I have, I want to share it. That's why I would get married again."
On June 29, TV One will premiere a one-hour Jill Scott concert special. Roberts can be seen prominently throughout the show.

I LOVE JILL SCOTT WITH ALL OF MY HEART AND SOUL, SHE IS ONE OF THE MOST PROLIFIC NEO-SOUL ARTIST OF OUR TIME. HER MUSIC RESONATES THROUGH OUR GENERATION LIKE A TUNING FORK, IT BOUNCES OFF OF EACH AND EVERYONE IT TOUCHES. I love Jill Scott but, I think it was to SOON for her to jump into another relationship! I feel, after a marriage you need time to BREATH and do YOU! She shouldn't have rushed into that. After a year, she will be singing another sad song "He Left Me" or something like that?

Can this be Love or just not wanting to be alone? I also am a fan of Jill Scott and want her to be happy but this is too soon after a ending her first marriage. With matters of the heart, we should all be careful and it should be handle with kit-gloves. Jill, you need to get to really know who you really are and than strike out, please don't rush into marriage. Get to know one another well, your dislikes as well as your likes because when you say I do, things do changes and sometimes not for the better. One of you may wake up in the morning and ask the question who is this person in my bed, I don't really know them? But if this is real Love you will both overcome! My best to Ms Jill Scott, I will always be your fan through thick and thin (BOL).
