With the seventh anniversary of the September 11th terror attacks approaching us within the next few weeks, media queen Oprah Winfrey reportedly has big plans to mark the day on a positive note.
According to 'The New York Post,' Winfrey is attempting to feature every American Olympic gold medalist from the recent
Now that's could be golden -- only if it was true.
Agents for several Olympic athletes including Ronda Rousey, who mentioned via her website that she would be participating in the show, were contacted by Winfrey's producers about taking part on the special.
Although the show has yet to be etched in stone, a spokesman for Winfrey allegedly told the 'Post' that the taping would center on the winning 36 gold medals at the Beijing Olympics instead of the remembering the September 11 attacks.
"Rather than focus on the tragedy of the attack seven years on, an Olympic-champions show would be an irresistible piece of patriotism - marking the day with a positive note."
In communicating to Blackvoices.com on Aug. 29, a rep for Harpo, Inc. said the previous reports were inaccurate and clarified that Winfrey "will feature 150 Olympic medalists on the season premiere that airs September 8."Details for Sept. 11 show were not available at presstime.

Number 7, I so was not feeling Cecil's comments in #3. Every now and then some weird birds do FLY in.
However,to answer #15, there should be Black Voices because there is a different vantage point and perspective that is taken when you see things through different eyes. And you know what, the vantage point may not always be right or it may defintely not always be wrong...but a different view point does exist. There are Italian perspectives, Hispanic perspectives, Jewish perspectives, etc. Understanding those individual PERSPECTIVES gives another individual insight into the whys and the wherefores of an individual having a view point that he or she may have.
I won't say you can, I say you DO have a voice. Let ilt be heard. Don't get nervouse on me.
It's like food...Italian food has a different flavor, Hispanic food has a different flavor and SOUL food has a different flavor. It's all food and all vital to the party that eats it. More often than not...it's all good too!

Oprah is honorable herself and should be commended and lauded for her journalistic accomplishments. She could win a position in the presidential election, opposed to "what's her name"?

Inre to David #15: It would be a perfect world if classifications did not have to be made among citizenry, races, etc. But, way back in the days, there was NO, NADA, NOTHING reported about blacks that was positive. Therefore now, there are independent and syndicated media reporting of black news and events in visual & non visual forms. (I do agree with you that it should not have to be).

I definitly agree with Susan and David. Those who lost their lives on 9/11 didn't ask for it to happen. It was a tradgedy that happened, But do we really need to honor the olympians that brought the gold home? No! 9/11 had nothing to do with bringing the gold home. We need to respect this day and keep it peaceful.....OPRAH should know better!!!

Can't we African Americans have anything to ourselves
It's bad enough we don't stick to together as a whole
The answer to your Questions why is called Black Voices: because it is what it is Black Voices speaking their minds, opinions etc. We don't go on the kkk sites and asked why why don't you like Black people, Jews etc. It's ok for those sites to be on the internet and no one questions anything about it or do anything about it but you and I said you White People got the nerve to question why is it call Black Voices. Do me favor go on one of the KKK sites and ask them why they don't like anyone but their
ignorant selves and then come back and ask why is it call Black Voices.
