With the seventh anniversary of the September 11th terror attacks approaching us within the next few weeks, media queen Oprah Winfrey reportedly has big plans to mark the day on a positive note.
According to 'The New York Post,' Winfrey is attempting to feature every American Olympic gold medalist from the recent

Agents for several Olympic athletes including Ronda Rousey, who mentioned via her website that she would be participating in the show, were contacted by Winfrey's producers about taking part on the special.
Although the show has yet to be etched in stone, a spokesman for Winfrey allegedly told the 'Post' that the taping would center on the winning 36 gold medals at the Beijing Olympics instead of the remembering the September 11 attacks.
"Rather than focus on the tragedy of the attack seven years on, an Olympic-champions show would be an irresistible piece of patriotism - marking the day with a positive note."
In communicating to Blackvoices.com on Aug. 29, a rep for Harpo, Inc. said the previous reports were inaccurate and clarified that Winfrey "will feature 150 Olympic medalists on the season premiere that airs September 8."Details for Sept. 11 show were not available at presstime.

Wow, lots of haters. Why are you all so afraid of a black man for president. There have be other celebrities that back other Candidates. Honestly I'm afraid of 4 more years of the same thing. All you ppl saying honor the soldiers on 9/11, hah, we honor them all the time. Time to get out. We have no money left, are you ppl paying attention, if we vote Repub. one more time, we will have a depression, guarrenteed. Geez, it is all the fear that some ppl have that will assure that we will never have peace.

WOW---that woman will use ANYTHING to get publicity. She buys it, she uses celebrations, tragedies, scandals, etc. to make a buck. She is so stale. Will she ever get off TV ????

To David. It's called BLACK VOICES, because we as BLACK people, have not been able to voice our opinions, elsewhere. And NO it should not be called voices. It's called BLACK VOICES for a reason. And for ALL of you who seem to think that Oprah is doing something wrong, by having the olympic medalist on her show.Then don't F***ing watch it. Sit your lazy asses on the couch, and turn the channel. Or better yet, get your own F***ing talk show, and you can invite anyone that you choose to. The BILLIONAIRE has spoken. Like it or not. Just another example of Oprah doing whatever it takes for HER fame and fortune! Gold, Silver, Bronze or No Medal at all - ALL of our athletes that went to Beijing should be honored for their talent, sportsmanship and diplomacy. We were well represented!

For those who care ... there is no need for a blog to be named "White Voices"... because clearly, there are plenty of media outlets that feature white people (some exclusively) in every aspect of their everyday living. Please already with the indignation. Black voices simply means for Black folks to be able to talk candidly about what is on their minds - colloquialisms and all.
