"Everyone always credits Destiny's Child as the biggest-selling female group, but it's just not true. You can't count album sales for each solo project collectively and come up with numbers. I love Destiny's Child, but thank you."
-- Former TLC singer Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas setting the record straight. (Essence)

Yeah, i knew that wasn't quite right when i kept hearing that and considering that the bulk of DC's success was just from Beyonce's solo career anyway, they don't come anywhere near TLC as far as sales. You go girl, set the record straight.

That is so true..many do try to add up Beyonce's solo and the other two members. If i remember correctly destiny's child never had an album go Diamond like TLC did?..

Probably a true statement, and I like them both. Destiny's Child may not have sold more albums, but they are definitely more talented musically and WAY more famous. Maybe they should say 'DC is the most famous, rich, influential girl group of our time'. Now, that IS the truth.

Because I am a music historian, each time I heard that comment I would cringe because I knew it was a lie. TLC sold more records than Destiny's Child - PERIOD. And to "voicer" Genesis, had Left Eye not died TLC would have continued to record and build on their legacy. You say, "DC is the most famous, rich, influential girl group of 'our' time". Which "time" are you referring to? Because DC is not the most "influential" girl group of "all" time - the Supremes would be that. Also, DC was a more "white washed" act than TLC - I personally found TLC to be more "real".

I agree wholeheartedly with JBROOKS. TLC was my era. Don't get me wrong DC was "CUTE" but no way musically and or records sales can they compare with TLC.

I agree with jbrooks. When I would hear the same statements, I would say "HUH." I like all groups mentioned but when I look @ TLC and the Supremes, they are more influential and groundbreaking then DC.

It is so unfair to compare groups from two totally different times. I miss TLC. That was MY time!!! TLC was so much more down to earth. When I saw them on tv I just felt like they loved each other but at the same time I could tell they all had their own strong personalities. There was no 'stand out' in that group. I like groups like that where no one person stands out over the rest. They each had their own flava. Now I will say that DC can out sing TLC. But as far as performing and record sales TLC has always been on top in my opinion. And I am not a hater of DC at all. They all can sing and Bey is doing her thing. I do wish all three were more equal as far as individual success. If Left Eye were alive and I had a choice of buy a DC or TLC cd I would buy a TLC cd.

Personally I think TLC was more real in who they were. and they sang about much more mature subjects. They did not go around with this robotic type of deameaner like everything was always so dam perfect and we just love each other, when there was a problem that let it be known and thats why people could relate to them. DC was just too dam phoney to me.I like tlc because even real sister have problems fromm time to time and these women in both these group were not real blood sister so you know there was some problems.
