Idris Elba: Making A Visit To 'The Office'

Id ris Elba is making a return to the small screen.

The former star of HBO's Peabody Award winning drama series, 'The Wire,' has been cast to star in the hit NBC sitcom, 'The Office.'

According to 'Variety', Elba will play the new rival to Dunder Mifflin regional manager Michael Scott, played by Emmy Award winner Steve Carell. He'll reportedly play a no-nonsense hire at the corporate office who will throw Scott into turmoil.

The hunky actor, who most recently starred in 'The Unborn' and will next be seen alongside Beyonce Knowles in 'Obsessed,' will appear in six episodes later this season.

A native of London, the 36-year-old bachelor and part-time deejay has been making a name for himself since leaving 'The Wire;' his credits include 'American Gangster,' 'Prom Night,' 'Tyler Perry's Daddy's Little Girls,' 'RocknRolla' and the upcoming feature 'Bone Deep,' with Matt Dillon, T.I. and Chris Brown.
