Jacqueline Rhinehart has enlisted the opinions of some of today's most reportable figures for her debut literary outing, 'My Organic Soul: From Platio to Creflo, Emerson to MLK, Jesus to Jay-Z – A Journal to Help You Discover Yourself Through Words of Wisdom from Visionaries Past and Present.' It even includes a forward by Public Enemy front-man Chuck D.
And, as the title notes, 'My Organic Soul' offers up inspirational quotes from everyone from today's biggest hip hop stars like Common, Jay-Z and Kanye West alongside historical figures like Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Nelson Mandela, but as Vibe magazine editor Danyel Smith notes, "Ms. Rhinehart's book is not 'Chicken Soup for the Soul'-it's a feast. Beautiful, inspirational, necessary."
The College Survival Guide
A Fridge
Regardless of whether you have a wonderful sized meal plan, your fridge may come in handy with leftovers or when you feel like stocking it with bottled drinks.
Computer
The convenience of a computer is essential when sending your kids off to college. Forget the hike to the computer lab across campus students need a computer in the comfort of their room. A printer comes in handy as well. Depending on whether your child plans to carry his laptop around campus, you might opt for a desk top since they're lighter on the pockets.
Snacks
You will surely survive with off of a meal plan but it doesn't hurt to stock up on snacks when you don't feel like leaving your dorm room. Bottled water, pop corn, cereal and Ramen noodles are all low budget snacks to stock up on. Just be weary of the freshman 15.
Things from home
Some college students suffer from homesickness the first year. It's best to surround yourself with things like photos of the family, pillows or even stuffed animals. Anything that reminds your child of home.
MP3 Player
With all the stress that comes from school and exams, sometimes it's nice to block out the chaos in your life and even your roommate with music. It's nearly impossible to find students walking to class who aren't jamming to tunes.
Budget
Students who enter college often come in at the ripening age of 18. A great time for credit cards. Parents beware, your child may end up ruining their credit at a young age
Alarm Clock
When you're in college you don't have the luxury of getting awaken by your parents. It's now your responsibility to get to class on time so alarm clocks are a must. But keep your roommate in mind. You shouldn't wake him up ever morning with a blow horn alarm.
Cleaning supplies
Now you don't necessarily need to bring in the rubber gloves, mop and gas mask but it doesn't hurt to bring along Clorox all purpose wipes for spills or dust. Vacuums and brooms come in handy too depending if you have a carpeted dorm.
Bedding
What most parents aren't aware of is that most college beds are twin sized but extra long and require special sheets. When shopping keep your eye open for sheets that clearly state 'extra long' or else your child may come up short.
Shower shoes
You really don't know what some people do in the shower these days. College showers are known to be creeping with germs so spare yourself the fungus and purchase flip flops for the shower. You'll thank us later!
As a music industry executive for Universal, Arista and Mercury Records, Rhinehart has helped to craft the careers of some of the music's brightest stars. Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Brian McKnight, Faith Evans, Monica, Lil Wayne, Chico Debarge and Nelly are just a few of the boldface names of music she has blessed with her savvy marketing know-how.
From the launches of Bad Boy Records and LaFace Records to the media campaigns for the soundtracks to 'Waiting to Exhale' and 'The Preacher's Wife,' this University of South Carolina graduate, who also tours as a public speaker, was instrumental in each project's success.
She said that the book was an intersection of her love for collecting quotes, writing journals, working in the music business and taking Philosophy courses over the years.
The title, 'My Organic Soul' was a natural transition from the name of her marketing firm, Organic Soul Multicultural Marketing, Inc. The New Jersey resident's goal in putting 'My Organic Soul' together was "to inspire readers to "reflect and ponder an idea or belief in life."
She previously contributed to 'Inside the Minds/CMO Leader Strategies: Top Executives on Creating and Delivering Successful Marketing Campaigns That Impact the Bottom Line,' and in addition to contributing to another new book 'Handle Your Entertainment Business,' which is due in stores on March 1, 2009, she has plans for a sophomore release. of her own
"I have begun working on the next book. It will be out in [later this year]," she said. "I wish it could be out sooner because it addresses a lot of things that are going on. It is tentatively titled, 'Black Like Me: The Content of our Character' and it will be essays on the defining of blackness." She already has gotten boxing legend Muhammad Ali to write an essay for the tome.
'My Organic Soul' is available now.

MY BOOK NEED TO BE PLACED ON YOUR SHELF. THE SINFUL NATURE BY WENDY JENNINGS
Preface
Children are so very special. Th ey need to be told that all the time. Did
you know if you scar a child, that scar stays with them for the rest of his
life? Th e children that are fortunate enough not to have gone though
abuse in life rate very few. Th e many that are abused in one way or
another carry many bruises and tend to lash out in diff erent ways. Men
that were abused as little boys sometimes abuse their spouse and/or
their children. Women that are abused sometimes use their bodies as a
symbol for acceptance.
Th is book is purely fi ctional and any of the stories that may pertain to
you are entirely coincidental. Christine is the little girl whose eyes this
book is written through. She grew up and became a woman who learned
she was not alone in an abusive world. When you’re young, it’s hard to
express what has happened to you. First thing is, you don’t know what
was exactly wrong—you just know it wasn’t right.
Parents need to pay close attention to their children. A drastic change in
attitude, habits, or overall demeanor is a key indication that something
devastating may have happened. Christine in her young life was scared
and afraid. Not understanding what was wrong or why it was happening
to her led to a life of turmoil and many battles within herself.
With this book, I hope to touch someone that has gone through similar
battles in life before it’s too late. Christine realized she had to go through
many healing processes before even talking about the many things she
went through. Meditation and prayer is what helped her start to

I've known Jackie for years having been in marketing and promotion for various record labels myself. She's brilliant and I'm so happy for her.
There's a lot of unheralded talent coming in from the Recording Industry over to the publishing side.
Welcome my sister, pull up a chair and do what you do best...dispense wisdom.

Wow, I'm really excited to get a copy of her book! As an Afro-Latina, I'm the wife of a former rapper/music producer Gasnta Tea,formerly of Southern Rap Commission, Ice Teas' Rhyme Syndicate and Gangsta Crew Posse, and know the politics, stereotypical blocks presented to and overcome by African American talent in the music industry.
As a seasoned writer, my newest novel entitled "Unlikely Princesses" (Amazon.com)is a romance (fiction, time travel, fantasy) which gives a voice to the social stigma's of African American and Latina women in our society. It's always refreshing to me to see women from our culture, use the knowledge and skills honed by working for prestigious entertainment companies(record labels/film corps.) in a way that is uplifting, and showcases their resiliency and talent in diverse arenas.
I wish Jackie and "Organic Soul" great success and lot's of fabulous press! I intend to order a copy, since my husband has kinships with many of the music artists mentioned in her article. Can't wait to read their infamus quotes!

Recently heard Ms Rhinehart speak at my alma mater and what an inspiration she was! She was intelligent, wise, approachable, genuine, steet and Wall St savvy, likeable and funny. After a day of traveling and taking care of my family she made me sit straight up in my seat to hear all the wonderful jewels she had to bestow. I'm excited to check out the book and wish her well on future endeavors.
