Legendary televangelist Dr. Frederick K.C. Price is ready to pass on the torch -- and keep it in the family at the same time. The esteemed founder of the Crenshaw Christian Center (CCC) -- in the Los Angeles area -- is leaving his post as the head pastor of the 22,000-member megachurch and will install his son, Pastor Frederick Price, Jr., as his successor.
It will all be made official on March 15, the same day that the junior Pastor Price turns 30 years old.
"Fred will start his public ministry at the same age Jesus did. That is prophetic," said the elder Price, who will turn 77 this year during the church's 35th anniversary celebration.
"I will still be around as [the] apostle and working with the board of directors, but it's time for Pastor Price, Jr. to get into the driver's seat. I will still mentor him."
Price Jr. was ordained in February of 2003 and has been an advocate for youth activity in the church, creating a special Sunday service called Hip-Hop Sunday to attract younger churchgoers. One of the first churches to mesh hip-hop with faith, the service is now called The BluePrint.
Aside from helming that initiative, he would regularly minister on Sundays when his father was away on business trips.
"Becoming pastor of Crenshaw Christian Center is an honor of high esteem," he said. "To follow in the footsteps of my father, the apostle of faith, is a privilege and a challenge I look forward to taking on."
Dr. Price is one of the first black ministers to head a megachurch and an evangelical broadcast on television that reaches over 15 million households each week. He is also known for his candid teachings, such as his controversial Race, Religion and Racism series that took him three years to complete. The author of more than 50 books, he has mentored many highly recognized ministers influencing the church today.
"I will still uphold the same high standards of teaching and excellence my father brought to the pulpit," Price Jr. said.

Many would say all that there is to be said about a man of God handing over the Church to his born again son. In the history of the Church, is it only to a son that a Church leadership has been handed over to? No. Why are there no complaints about others? Where I come from, in Nigeria many things happen eg a wife who was not too "seen" in the affairs of the Church has eventually taken over and it is doing extremely well. A leadership tussle as to who handles leadership became an bottled up issue though it has now become solved and for many years upon the death of its ersthwhile leader the Church grows stronger. I think such comments will arise from people who "apparently" are not born again Christians or are just Church goers who may want to likely criticize for the sake of criticising. I was a fella who like criticising and for many years until I became born again. Ive read Rev. K.C Price book, "The Purpose of Prosperity". He discusses several issues but relevant to what someone said about him and the wife in a luxury car when penury exists outside, is just elimentary to the workings of God. When the Reverend fasted, vigiled, prayed, brought in many whose lives have been changed, mourned, tithed etc where was he? When as a man of God he tithed 30% of his earnings as against the 10% where was he? I pray that he will see throught the spirit and not the flesh!

Born again, you mean its a metaphor because the next time you're born you will have died from this life,I am sad for you you have been brained washed with a white man's god and religion. At one time long before the white man came into your country, Nigeria, did your people not have harmony with the Creator(s)and the forces of nature in conclusion with the Cosmos. Your ancestors were the Gods and Goddesses,Kings,Prince,Queens, and Princes. Now you bow down to an earthly white mans' white Jesus;blond haired blue eyed anti-Christ. Christianity has murdered Moors all over the world. They have killed more people in the name of Jesus because they were evil;than all world wars put together!and that so-called Jesus is a copy of the ancient mythological Egyptian god Horus.Osiris. The god concept is an African concept. A man can teach religion(dogma)but to be spiritual, that comes from within you and to the Creator(s)of the Cosmos;in the end of it all,you are the god that will judge your own life complete with your book, based on your own consciousness. Hell(hole)is here on earth at the same time heaven is.Heaven is a state of mind like good and evil. All people are born with good(god) and evil(D-evil)consciousness,some choose to to do good, others choose to do evil. Get back to the true unseen divine created forces of the cosmos and love your fellow brothers and sisters, and keep in mind that the true creator(s)of this whole world don't need money for anything, money is a creation of man to control man. Never judge a man be his material possessions but by his spiritual character;and what he will do for not a fee!!

How do you do a list of the most influential Black spritual leaders and leave off Bishop Charles Blake of the Church of God In Christ?

Ministers who collected millions and millions of dollars should give back the money to the community. They are consistently crying and preaching about tithes. It is all about greed and nothing but greed. They really need mansions, flashy cars and a jet to fly them any where they want to go. Did Jesus live in a palace and owned a stable of horses? Look that up in the Bible and tell what is the answer.

Any passing on to ones children what parents have invested in is considered an inheritance. Pastor Price has laid up an inheritance for his son and launched his son as an arrow. It is scriptural that the son is the arrow that was shot by his father. It is also scriptural that we are all co-priests in the Kingdom of God. This son has been positioned , conditioned, repositioned and blessed by both parents for a time such as this. He has a heart for the message of God and speaks with a Grace that does reflect the will of our God. With the Grace of our God the Ministry of Jesus Christ will expand and flourish as the son proclaims the Gospel to the world. Thanks be to God.
