Despite being cleared of felony charges last year after his highly publicized airport scuffle with paparazzi in Los Angeles, Grammy Award-winning rapper and producer Kanye West, 31, has been charged with three criminal misdemeanors.
According to the Los Angeles Times, city prosecutors have given West a bit of a 'Heartbreak' by hitting him with one count of vandalism, one count of grand theft and one count of battery. West's road manager, Don "Don C." Crowley, 33, was charged with two counts of vandalism, two counts of grand theft and two counts of battery.

The prosecutors' decision to press charges comes six months after the Los Angeles County district attorney's office declined to pursue felony charges.
West and Crowley were arrested on Sept. 11 at an American Airlines terminal after allegedly confronting a still photographer for taking unwanted pictures of them, which led both men to grab the camera and throw it to the ground, shattering it to pieces, according to authorities.
The two men are scheduled to be arraigned April 14 at the Los Angeles Airport Courthouse. If convicted on all counts, West could face up to two and a half years in jail, while Crowley could face five years.

I really think this is some bullshit! I understand that Kanye is of celebrity status and that he has lot's of fans, but Kanye elects to not have his picture taken then he should have that right. Paparazzi have to make a living, I understand that, but even entertainers need their privacy.

I'm a photojournalist, although I do not consider myself part of the papparazzi. I do mostly sports and outdoor type material.
My understanding of the law is that any person (celebraties included) can be photographed legally in PUBLIC, such as on a city street, getting into a taxi, etc. But it is NOT legal to go on private property to get the photos. The paparazzi types use/abuse that law to get their unwanted photos to an extreme.
My personal policy would be to ask the person first if it's okay, even in public, as a courtesy. I would not like someone coming up and doing a photo shoot in the middle of cuddling with my husband on a park bench in public, or something of that nature and I try and extend that same sensitity to others. Perhaps some of the photographers out there reading this will consider that. They would probably bet better photos anyhow ....

This guy, I tell ya. Boo-freaking-hoo. Paparazzi comes with being a celebrity. All of us are aggravated at some point by something, but we have the option to react or keep going.
Had he kept going, he'd not have to deal with this now. That's the benefit of walking away.
