Aisha Tyler: Latest Gig Is An ABC Daytime Talk Show

Though the business model hasn't seemed to pan out that well, another TV star is making inroads to launch a daily talk show.

Remember when 'Will & Grace' diva Megan Mullaly had a show? No? A lot of people don't. No one watched it.

Similar fates were met by 'Night Court's star Marsha Warfield, Tony Danza (of 'Who's The Boss?' fame) and 'Sabrina and the Teenage Witch' star Carolynn Rhea.

Yet still they go on.

Aisha Tyler has been tapped to host a talk show pilot for ABC.

The former 'Talk Soup' hostess will front 'The Aisha Tyler Show,' which has been described as a hybrid that will incorporate aspects of a traditional talk show with funny political commentary, packaged comedy segments and other elements usually associated with late-night shows.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show is aimed at a younger audience and is being developed as a fully "wired" concept, with fans being able to communicate with Tyler via Facebook, Twitter and other platforms.

Recently, shows such as 'Late Night with Jimmy Fallon' and the fourth hour of 'Today ' (hosted by Kathie Lee Gifford & Hoda Kotb) have used the popular social network platforms to tap into their audiences.

The pilot is being produced by ABC Media Productions (formerly Buena Vista TV), which develops and produces non-scripted original programming for syndication and cable.

Reportedly there has been speculation that the project might be eyed for ABC's afternoon block, which airs the legendary soap operas 'All My Children,' 'One Life to Live' and 'General Hospital.'

Tyler, who broke ground in an interracial story arc on the successful sitcom 'Friends,' recently appeared in the feature 'Bedtime Stories' and her very own Comedy Central special 'Aisha Tyler Is Lit: Live at the Fillmore.'

The San Francisco-born actress-comedienne, who is completing a U.S. stand-up tour, is planning to write, direct and star in a series of webisodes for Will Ferrell and Adam McKay's website FunnyOrDie.com.
