Many believe Jay-Z will never actually retire from his rap career.
And judging from the revered mogul's latest news, that's becoming more apparent.
Last night, Live Nation spokesperson Liz Morentin-Bookasta confirmed to BV Newswire that Jay-Z has confirmed that he will headline a series of intimate performances to connect with fans as he takes a break from putting the finishing touches on his upcoming album, 'The Blueprint 3.'
Backed by a full band, the exclusive engagements begin July 3 at the Pearl in the Palms Casino in Las Vegas.
Five dates have been confirmed thus far with more to be announced.
Platinum-selling pop artist Ciara will open on select dates. Tickets are now on sale. Jay-Z, who stepped down from his presidency post at Def Jam Records in late December 2007, announced his retirement from recording in 2003.
Since then, the entrepreneur and part owner of the New Jersey Nets, has released three projects -- the last being a soundtrack companion to the blockbuster movie 'American Gangster' -- and a line of signature fragrance products. Last year, he married pop music icon Beyonce Knowles.
His most recent concert trek was last year's sold-out 'Heart of the City Tour' with Queen of Hip-Hop Soul Mary J. Blige.

YES! He will almost be 40 yrs. old. Come on now? He should focus on producing uprising acts, continue with his franchises, and be the best successful business man. I say, all rappers should retire before they reach their 40's. It's sad seeing some rappers such as, (Nelly) still wearing sag jeans and rappin over 35. Too old, in my opinion. As far as Jay Z being more INTIMATE with his fans on his tour, I don't think he needs to go on that route at all. You don't have to change who you are in order to be like other artist. If you make good music, there is no need to reach out to fans in that kind of way. Good Lyrics & Music, and Performance is all you need. I wonder how Beyonce feels about that? For years, Beyonce has been intimate with her fans from the beggining. IN my opinion, I feel since the two are married, they shouldn't be intimate with their fans. I feel, there might be jelousy if Jay performs in that kind of way.

Dude is NEVER gonna retire LOL!! & I'm starting not 2 have a problem with that. Rapping is his art form. Actors act long into their old age and the same can be said for singers. But because of how hip hop is more geared toward younger people, rappers are supposed 2 quit?! I don't know about that 1.

Hey yall, I take that back in the first comment I made. You still have Rakim that has an album out(one of the best old school hip hop rap artist out there)he still "ROCS THE MIC", KRS ONE,(one of my favorite old school hip hop artists (dopest lyricalist out there still ryhymin, My man LL COOL J, still lookin fine as heck and still rappin, and the list goes on...... If it wasn't for these legendary pioneers, there wouldn't be none. These hip hop old school artist back then and still today had lots of respect in their lyrics and performances. They all paved the way for hip hop artist today. I like Jay Z and this is his love and been ryhmin for so long, I guess keep up with the good hits. But far as these hip hop rap artist today, a lot of them are just rappin for that paper and just living for today. Those artist will live just for today and be gone tomorrow.

there is absolutely no way jay should hang it up. hip hop is dying thanx to all the yungs and lils out there. rappers like jay are the only thing that will help it to survive. i mean damn, i was listening to the radio and i heard the worst song ive ever heard in my life. rappers always stayed away from sounding like a nursery rhyme but we gettin money like nah nah nah nah nah nah???? we would b left with these corny rappers if they gave it up. jay dont need to get intimate with his fans, n he dont need to be like ANY other rapper. last time he said he was gonna retire, i saw alotta people get real sick. n when he came back, i seen even more people appreciate him more. The game would b on a down hill slope to destruction if he left thanx to all these wack a-s so called rappers.
