Chris Rock's next movie will be unlike anything he's done before.

'Good Hair,' an in-depth and hilarious look at hair culture in the black community, will hit movie theaters this fall – thanks in large part to his deal with Roadside Attractions and Liddell Entertainment.

The HBO Films documentary won a special jury prize when it premiered the 2009 Sundance Film Festival. The Emmy Award winning funnyman produced and co-wrote 'Hair,' with Grammy Award winning pop culture critic Nelson George.

Jeff Stilson
directed the doc, which is a travelogue that explores the way hairstyles affect the activities, pocketbooks, sexual relationships and self-esteem of black people.

The idea for the film came after Rock's daughter, Lola, came up to him crying and asked, "Daddy, how come I don't have good hair?"

Ice-T, Nia Long, Paul Mooney, Raven Symone, Maya Angelou, Rev. Al Sharpton and super-publicist Marvet Brtto share on-camera stories and observations with the task of figuring out how to respond to his daughter's question..

Lionsgate, home of all things Tyler Perry, will handle home video releases of the film, which will also be seen on HBO.
